I believe that tanning is a luxury and that yes we should make our clients feel special. What works for some salons may not be feasible for others. When a client enters our store the first thing we do is smile and greet them. We ask how they are and if there is anything they may need. We suggest new products, etc. Each is handed a clean folded towel and the bed is already sanitized when they enter the room. They are not asked to clean the bed. We are one of the few salons that do this. We keep all rooms clean and have a pleasant atmosphere. Temperatures in each room and bed are at a comfortable temp. Upon leaving we smile and tell each person walking by to have a great day. Our main objective is to make sure each client feels special and taken care of. We have a Customer Appreciation Day every 2 months also. This lets everyone know that we do care. ------------------Carin WalkerSandollar Tanning Resorts

carin what you do for your clients is good, but what your telling me is you do the same things that most salons due or should. let me explain....all salons should greet customers coming in. right? I dont know of one salon in my area that makes the client clean beds and btw my area has 48 salons. we also say good-bye as they leave offer them a mint. and also have special days for the customers. ie. pool partys and picnic's. what I want to see if there's anyone that takes it a step further. not saying roll out the read carpet but offer something different then what your salon or my salon do's on a everyday basis. I will tell you this no matter if I have a 46 bed salon or a 12 bed salon I'll make the customer feel special....remember he or she is our bread and butter. sometimes it takes creative thinking and thats when you stand above the rest.

keep in mind this is CA we are talking about nothing is normal there lol which what works out there I'm sure dosnt work in the mid states. they are always thinking 24/7 new idea's and ways to set themselves apart from the competetion. its a very competetive state. as far as being frightning why? these are hired people to serve your needs. are you frighten when your in a nice club and your in the rest room and the guy or girl stands there and waits then hands you a towel when your done with your business? all I'm saying people is get away from the normal alittle and try something wild or new. set yourself apart from the rest if not all you are is another salon.

As Carin said, we have a customer appreciation day. The customers get to draw for free lotion, upgrades, or discounts. We also have candy and snacks for them along with door prizes and one grand prize. All of the customers usually look forward to these.

jean I think the idea is good, how many salons in your area?I might add that alot of salons have days like that but I do think its good. my question to you and everyone else that seems to be posting from alabama, what seperates your salon from the rest? is it the customer appreciation day? what if ever salon in your area did that then what? I just want people to see that unlike some salons I know that just open their doors and do nothing, it takes thinking and marketing to be the best at what you do.

WE have five salons in the area. Customers prefer to come to us over the others, because we keep our bulbs changed, we have a clean facility, and our staff is nicer and more educated on the tanning process. This sets our five salons apart from the rest of the salons in this area.

Perhaps I lead a sheltered life, but bathroom attendants annoy me. LOL!
