I won't go into full detail about this other then to say PLEASE!!!! beware when buying a used tanning bed from people on these boards.

About 4 weeks ago we got a email from JP Stork he noticed our post on this site "looking for used beds" he contacted us exchanged telephone calls saw a few pics and next thing you know we are wiring a large sum of money to his account.

Bed arrives 3 days later destoryed. The top was warped, acrylic and lamps smashed and bed not in running order.

He spent the next week avoiding our calls and letters asking for a refund.
turns out he knew the bed was bad.the warehouse where JP Stork got it from informed him the bed should not be sold and that they wanted to throw it in the trash.

short story is we are still fighting for our money back and have a meeting monday morning with our lawyer.

PLEASE don't purchase from JP Stork email address invisibletan@yahoo.com

I will also give him a chance to come on and defend himself. But trust me 16 pics and 5 witnesses he is hiding.

Isn't this the company called Primaltan?

I think they have a web site called ebizquote. I had thought about doing business w/ them. Thanks for the warning!

From what we have gathered, JP's site is www.primaltan.com .

Again, buyer beware!!!!! If you buy site unseen, you may deserve what you get.

Too bad there isn't a "sticky" function to keep this warning on the top.

there is and good idea...it is now "stuck"

If you're going to buy used, buy locally, within a couple hours drive time, and pick it up yourself if possible. I don't want to be a downer, but purchasing anyting over the internet from out of state, you should expect to get less than you are paying for. Often times, the used equipment for sale is barely worth the parts on it (ie ballasts, relays, lamp holders, end caps, etc). Rule of thumb, if the bed were worth having, it probably wouldn't be for sale. Look for auctions and stores going out of business when you're looking for used equipment. Good luck.

We would look at the shipper of the bed. Was the bed insured? What value? The bed could have been in great shape and from what you have written I would first think that the shipper was the problem.

With any transaction involving JP STORK you just know it is a scam. This guy feeds off gullable trustworthy people who think that just because they deal on these forums, that it must be ok. You can believe that the bed was shipped from the warehouse in the condition it was received. I've been reading these posts for a year now and havn't forgotten the name JP STORK.

aaperfecttan 05-23-2005 10:43 AM

i dont know either party but do you think
that guy would really ship a broken bed
im sure when you received it you inspected
the crating or outside packing for damage.
hopefully it was insured.

John B 05-23-2005 11:26 AM

aaperfecttan yes we did inspect the bed when it arrived and we refused deliverly.
it took another day or so to get ahold of JP and we explained what the bed looked like when it arrived.

prior to shipping the bed from the warehouse Jp called and informed me That New Wave llc where the bed was coming from damaged the acrylic and lamps on the top while trying to clean it.He said that he personally would take care of it and get us out a new acrylic and lamps for the bed.

I informed him that not only was the top lamps destoryed but the bottom had 4 lamps smashed
he said don't worry we will get lamps for you.

as far as inspecting the bed.We didnt notice the other damage until the bed was down off the truck and unwrapped that's when we saw the canopy was warped bad.and sockets in the bench were snapped off.

Needless to say we spent a week trying to email JP about this and he ignored us.
he blames the warehouse, the warehouse blames new wave llc and new wave told JP don't sell him this bed and he did anyways fully knowing it didn't run and was in poor shape

yes I agree I needed to research better and drive there.Problem is its not that easy jumping on a plane flying to iowa to look at a base bed.

Live and learn but we still have a meeting with our attorney.

All I am saying is this guy talks like he is with you every step of the way
and then he doesn't deliver what he promised
