I am on the pill and I tan my face for 10 minutes out of the 25 minute bed. I have never gotten dark spots on my face. I have heard that women who take the pill may have a harder time getting a tan. But, I haven't had that problem either.

Lots of things can cause a photosensitive reaction. You can't narrow it down to just birth control. You could have 100 women on the pill that have no adverse reaction to UV and one that does. It is not set in stone.
