I know this has been discussed somewhere before on tantalk, but I can't find it.We have a lady that is accusing us of not cleaning the beds properly and causing her to get sunspots. Can sunspots be contracted from a tanning machine, or is it simply a body fungus?????

If you use tanning beds in your salon you can spread many diseases, and yes she very likely caught it from your salon. It best to use all booth type tanning machines it will prevent any such problem.

Your client got the T.V from her scalp, or in her hair. If you clean the bed properly she will not get T.V from the bed, but if you use booths she will most certainly get a foot fungus because most salons that strictly booths NEVER clean them. Tell your client to use a good shampoo and sh won't have problems

Now that it is the busy season, as always we have been seeing a lot of clients coming from other salons the ones with tanning beds looking for "sunspot anti fungus cream".We have been told by clients of tanning bed salons they have been catching other things as well. We never have any complaints and never did in our 18 years for any such problem. We have Tanning Booths.

Jamacia JimYour statement:"But if you use booths she will most certainly get a foot fungus because most salons that strictly booths NEVER clean them."That is an out right lie and only shows your total lack of credibility, as wellas respect for your clients. Any one interested in what system is more hygienic can call their local Health Department! and ask them what tanning systemis more hygienic to use in a public setting a tanning bed were you spend you whole session laying in sweat on a acrylic window in a warm moist enviroment that many people have been dripping draining and discharging on. That can only be sanitized and can not steilize.Think of the things like herpies, scabies ringworm, lichens and people with aids and all the things they can carry, and leave behind on a tanning bed surface.I personally would never take that risk.Or a tanning booth in which your clientshave no contact with any surface and can use their own sandals to keep from contact with any flooring. You can also ask themanufacturer of your tanning units what they feel is more hygienic a design and best suited for public tanning.

We see a LOTS of Posts on here about SUNSPOT FUNGUS and other diseases on people bodies that are using tanning beds.It is a real problem for salons with "tanning beds".There are more hygienic systems for indoor tanning, like tanning booths. Contact your local Health Department for infromation.

Sun Spots are not really caused from the sun at all. She did not get them from your beds.Sun spots are a variety of fungus that liein the skin, UV light may activate them to grow, but they were already there before the client tanned. Of course UV light cannot penitrate the fungus to tan that area so a white spot forms. Chipp are you really tanning people?Sometimes you seem really uninformed.Sounds like you sell booths or something. Not many tanners choose a booth over a bed. It is much more relaxing to lie down and tan rather then stand. The only people that want to use booths are the ones in a hurry. 95% favor beds over booths.

Outright lie i don't think so i've gotten many customers back from the stand up chain near by because customers see that they very rarely clean the stand up..i myself have 2 booths as well as beds. It seems to me that you only selling point for whatever you sell is that beds are bad booths are good. Perhaps in your "18 years" you may have come up with some creative ways to sell you service. I alway wonder about people who sell by bad mouthing the competion rather than just being better, If you truly are in the tanning industry why would you ever bad mouth a system and just add to the hesteria from all moron uninformed people out there???
