Returned Check

I haven't been opened very long & I don't have a check service to secure checks written to my salon. Right now I've got a returned check & I wanted to hear of any experiences in retrieving these funds or is it strictly up to the person that wrote the check to make it good. So far, she's ignoring me.Thanks!

SunCity,What city are you in? Use use a company called "Checkcare." This company as well as many other type companies will get the return check from your bank and do the collection for you. Ours pays us the face amount on the check and they keep the $25 "Check return" fee.Hope this helpsSandollar

My lawyer told me about this one.Go to the bank branch the customer's account is at and pay the fee (about $7) to have the check CERTIFIED. The bank will only certify it if there is enough money in the account so you may need to check back often untill you hit payday.

We collect our own checks and have not had any real problems in 7 years. We freeze packages for anyone that has an outstanding check until it and our service charge are paid in full. Will we be able to have this feature in Canada as well Tony?EFT in Canada is becoming a bigger issue for us as well - with your blessing I will try and get info needed for file structure and submission.Hoping we will need it ourselves!Andy

just got our first NSF check yesterday... not sure what we will do about it though

Depends what the bank charges you but we charge the client $25 plus payment has to be made with cash or credit card.

We are mean because we don't want any returned checks, if someone bounces a check on us we 1: Charge them $50.00 (Which it states in our contract that they sign) and 2: We freeze out their acct so they can't tan and 3: We go to their bank and keep trying to cash the check til it goes thru
