Okay, I am going out on a limb, before reading Don's writings on it. But I understand that erythmia, is a reddening of the skin, Delayed Erythmia is the extreme of a sunburn. Okay Now I will go read his article...

Dermatologists and physical therapists characterize erythema as any reddening effect resultant of contact with sensitizing agents (capsicum, menthol, etc.), heat pads, or even massage. I'll bet that the dashing Mr. Smith was erythemized on the cheek by more than a few audacious young ladies before his wife Pat made an honest man out of him.
