Just found this site. I have a question for you maybe you people can help me with. My wife and I have a small tanning Salon. We have a client that tans on a regular bases with us. Brought to our attention she was getting white spots on her back. We really dont what know caused this but we ask her to cut back on her sessions to see if this would help. I was wondering if anybody else has run across this.

Tinea Versicolor. This is a fungus that originates in the hair and falls to the infected skin! This fungus is in the same family as athlete's foot ( Tinea Pedis )Use any dandruff shampoo to rid this.

If the shampoo thing doesn't work, Sun Spot lotions are available. example; Body Drench Wipe Out - 5 oz. bottle"clinically documented to eradicate the fungus Tinea Versicolor"

The Sun Spot remover is ok, but the root of the problem needs to be addressed(assuming that it is indeed tinea versicolor), which means to treat the source....which is the hair/scalp. It needs to be washed daily (as does the body) with something such as Selsun Blue and don't expect to see results for at least 2 weeks.

I would like to thanks all who replied to this post. We suggested the options that was posted to our client. I think we shocked her,she probally thought we did not even care. She did the shampoo and the spots did go away and is tanning three times a week she has a great tan. She was graetful that we cared enough to follow thru and try to find a solution. Thanks again
