Re: Bronzer Question
ive never bought lotion on the internet, only in salons. i bought he one im getting in this new salon im going to... its normal cost is 55$. so i dont see how thats cheap lol... i had no idea the reason behind not buying on the internet which is why i was going to... but if i was going to get a fraud lotion in the bottle i am in no way going to buy on the internet. better to be safe than sorry imo. Thanks for all your guys info. its been really helpful. and your right 15$ is cheap. the one im going to now is Reg, 40, but i get military discount at 30 a month unlimited.
i think one of my main problems when i did go tanning was that i showered shortly after coming home... i didnt realize that i needed to wait 5 hours. noone ever told me that lol but this salon that im going to now did. I see a huge difference in the old salon i went to, and the one im going to now. |

I found a similar if not the same skin typing form that we use in my salon on someone else's website (Cincinnati Tan Company) - I hope they don't mind, but I couldn't find it anywhere else at the moment and it's late and I have a couple of kids who will be up sooner than I am looking forward to: http://www.cincinnatitan.com/Skintype.aspx Try it out and see where you are. Someone at your salon really should have done this for you, especially if you are fair-skinned. If you are a Skin Type 1 - go full out sunless airbrush or spray tan (I don't think fair persons should use the booths so much, it rarely seems to work out well - but that's just my opinion) and stop wasting your time and money on bronzers in beds. If it's only the bronzer working, why subject your skin to the UV? You're probably sweating half of it off tanning anyway. Get yourself a good sunless tan (same principle as the bronzer, just more concentrated and professionally applied) and use an SPF when you're at risk of burning outdoors. Don't go overboard with the SPF - you need still enough UV to keep up your vitamin D, and from what I've read you can obtain it by using an SPF 8 [or lower] in the summer although you may have to reapply more often - you still don't want to burn - as it is my understanding that anything over an 8 can prevent Vitamin D production. See the following article for a better explaination: http://www.lookingfit.com/articles/v...-d-source.html I think the author is a poster on this site, so if I have mispoken - SORRY! It's late - I'm tired - and I really don't know why I keep reading these posts, let alone responding. I'm turning into an addict. Oh no - I'm addicted to this site. Anyone know a cure for that? Anyway, good luck Clhoie. If it turns out you are a 2, please start back in the beds at a very low amount of minutes - trust me, it works - and be patient. But if you are a 1, love your Celtic skin enough to forgo the beds. I LOVE the way my sunless clients look. Glowing, sun-kissed, very polished. Slainte! |

If using a bronzer is your only recourse (the only way you get color), you should try just pure Sunless Tanning (airbrush or spray) and sticking with an SPF outdoors to prevent burning during the summer. The bronzer in a bottle of lotion isn't as potent as a spray, and when you get it done by a professional, you get great coverage that will last longer than with the bronzer lotions. I won't get into the specifics since my last post never made it to this site and it took me forever to get all the info together. You can PM me if you want more info. I'm Irish, but I do tan, it just takes me forever! Hope this helps. Slainte! |

Re: Bronzer Question
So i called my parents and asked what all we have in our family. my dad says we have English, Irish, Duton, (some way related to one of the King James's).... my moms side has Irish and cherokee.and related to martha washington. my parents both can tan, but they dont go out and try to tan. if that makes sense... the jobs they have give them sun every day =)
Says im Skin Type2. i dont burn in tanning beds...i did once when i was 16 i went in for 20 mins my first time. salon didnt suggest any mins or anything lol... but yeah lol ive been 3 days, and im getting some type of color. I never really tryed to tan out in the sun. im a pretty much an indoor person. lol Each time ive gone tanning has been for 10 mins and i havnt sweat or turned pink at all. Thats a good sign right? |

Re: Bronzer Question
The Cherokee in you makes a big difference than being pure Celt. As long as you're not burning you should be on the right track. If you're not showing brown color as you are increasing your time, though, it could be the beds. Did you say you switched salons? Hopefully this one will give you better results.
A quality lotion is worth the investment IMO. Your skin is your body's largest organ - it's worth the extra few dollars/cents per tan. Bronzers come in all shapes and sizes, and in most cases, you get what you pay for. Give yourself a couple of hours after you tan before taking a shower to let the bronzer work its magic. Take care to keep a bronzing lotion closed tightly and out of extreme heat (don't leave it in your car!). If it starts to get watery, the DHA has probably broken down too much to be work any more. There are a plethora of things that work against bronzers. One common ingredient is mineral oil (i.e. baby oil), because it can strip away the color. Look for things like that in your everyday soaps and moisturizers (people have been having trouble with Dove soap and sunless tans at my salon). If your salon has a sunless collection, see if they have a body wash and tan extender. I stick with indoor tanning to get a base as well myself because I can't trust the outdoors not to burn me without it. Even then I still have to use a four outside in the summer. Good Luck and Happy Tanning. |
