Re: tantalk versus tantoday
What happened? What did i miss? What did i do now?
I am being compared to Robbie....how? I by no mean can compare to Robbie. Maybe my charming good looks.......okay fine, my humor. But what are the ratings on? Does this mean more tanning customers are visiting this site as opposed to salon owners, i don't know. What makes one site better than the other? Personally, i visit both sites and i contribute to both sites. I find that Tan Today offers more quality posts and less froo froo posts. Tantalk i find has more threads with casual conversations and chit chat rather than quality information being shared. Not cuz i'm a mod there, but because that's my opinion from what i see. I see more equipment being listed on here for sale, so when i'm looking for a bed, i do come here more for that. Each site has it's pros and cons, there is no 1 site that is best in all classes. They are free forums that we are able to discuss and share info with each other about business. that's it.

Re: tantalk versus tantoday
no comparisons -- just a random list -- I was under a time constraint...

Re: tantalk versus tantoday
Here is a dose of reality for advertisers:
Most tanning salon owners never ever visit any of the online forums. Of the minority of salon owners that do read the discussion forums, most visit all three of the popular online forums and, if they post at all, generally post on 1 or 2 of the forums. Most members just lurk and seldom, if ever, post. Content and controversy drives page traffic but not uniques. So what is the prudent banner advertiser to do? Simple, fast answer... buy a banner on the least expensive of the discussion forums for a couple of the busy season months. Additional months of banner views will not directly monetize into additional sales. Or just actively participate in the discussions and save-a-buck. That's my 2 cents worth of unsolicited advice. It's worth exponentially more to an advertiser.

Re: tantalk versus tantoday
I really could have named more -- (Mr. Oshman being one -- on either site I guess) but i was following the parameters given.
Brian -- you know, I think you are mechanical genius -- if you didn't know it then -- know it now -- too bad you live so freaking far -- a person who knows their way around a tanning bed in these parts is hard to find.
