venting

Ok I have an employee who works about 25 hours a week, she has been with us for alomst 9 months. She is smart certified and we trained her very well.
I was the shift after her today. When I came in there where people already tanning that were coming out of their beds. She had gotten into a bed herself since her shift was over. One of the ladies she put in a bed came to the front desk and asked me how the girl put her in for? I told her she put you in for 20 minutes, did you ask her for a different time. She said yes my daughter and I both only wanted 10 minutes and we wrote it on the sign in sheet and told her!!!!!!!!!!
This has happened once before with this employee and when I told her about it I said this is your first and last warning for this. This is something that can NEVER happen for any reason.
She had the nerve to cop and attitude with me today when I confronted her about it and said I would call her tomorrow to let her know if she still has a job or not. She said I don't really think this is something to be fired over and good luck finding someone that is as good as me!!!!!!!

The nerve of the little B*!ch!!!!!!!

Not to mention when I came in she was talking on the phone, a personal call I assume and not wearing her work shirt!!!!!!!

Don't you agree that she should be fired? I mean this is something as an owner that just in not excusable! I'm fuming mad!!!

I agree you need to get rid of her, I had an employee that was here for 12 years and she just started copping an attitude with me and we were best friends. She had other things in store I believe, I found out that she was telling my customers that she was going to open a salon herself! And while she was ON THE JOB!!! She was downing our salon and said hers would be better than my dump. Well she is gone!!! Well, my DUMP was good enough for her to tan for free and have a job.

it's hard to find good help nowadays, but you have to set limitations and boundaries and when those are crossed, you need to be stern and follow through with the consequences that you had set forth. if you don't do something this employee will never take you serious in the future because she knows she has you by the balls so to say. get rid of her, put out a sign for help wanted and get to it. too bad this had to happen during busy season. if you had not come in after her shift today, you wouldn't have known and it would keep going on. you have obviously set high standards for yourself and your salon and i think you have every right to get rid of people who don't respect or appreciate those standards. employees are a dime a dozen nowadays - once they get cocky with you - it's time they see themselves to another place of employment.

Get rid of her. She's been warned once, and apparently her attitude sucks. Don't react emotionally and just keep it simple. I actually have a termination checklist that I keep. It helps to make sure I have all my ducks in a row before having that meeting.

As a owner myself and since you have put so much into the training... i feel that some time off without pay may help to see the light . Unfortunately some people have to "pay the price" to toe the line! If time off doesnt help the i suggest "ditch the b;'ch"!!Hve a great day hope it works out for you!!!

The attitudes of the young people today just really seem to shock me, and I can't say that I'm old, I'm still in my 20's yet I have a work ethic and respect for people older than me or not. The people I have hired are great to begin with then when they start to get comfortable they start to slack a bit. Then I do get stern and have talks with them. Yet when I let them know about things they are doing wrong they cop and attitude and talk back which just floors me. I would never in my right mind talk back to a boss and think that it's alright to do that or even roll my eyes and stomp off. when the through attitude at me it just really really fires me and and kind of sends me over the deep end.


Anyways, I did fire her today and when I called to let her know she just said okee dokie. I said you know my reasoning to fire you right? she said yep. and that was it. I was just really shocked my the no I am really sorry for what I have done and I apologize I wish you would be willing to give me a second chance, nothing! Wow the easiest firing by far!!!

And we've already talked to two clients about starting to train this up coming week. Thank goodness!!!
