Re: Media Picking up Todays ITA Campaign Launch

"This battle is won customer by customer, market by market"... So true... 15 years in, the conversations have changed in the salon. Being extremely fair myself, I get the question everyday... do you think tanning causes cancer. Years ago it came up every once in awhile... now I have this conversation SEVERAL times a day.

I completely understand what you are saying. The best thing to do is arm yourself with answers for everything. We actually have more studies lately to our advantage that have creditbility. Familiarize yourself with the names of Dr.'s and non-biased studies that you can come back with more facts then they can handle. I LOVE DOING THIS!!!! We have freedom of speech....use it every chance you get.

Good post, Robbie. I'm glad you came back! I responded in your post, and look forward to our next encounter. Take care, sir.

Any answer you give won’t alter a thing. - No it won't, but it's a pertinent question nonetheless that lends to my theory of their motiviation for doing what they're doing now.

The fight is on now and despite the parasitic leeches like Belvedere, who run their ignorant non-donational mouths, many are getting involved. - Parasitic leech? How so? Membership and supporting years of trade shows count for nothing with you? Encouraging all of the salon owners I dealings with to support the ITA and Smart Tan over the years counts for nothing? You're capable of doing better than this I think.

My enthusiasm came only recently with the framing of Vitamin D and tanning. The momentum of this research is empowering many more to get involved. - So does this mean you agreed with the anti-tanning propaganda all those years, but took the cash anyway? If so, don't lose any sleep, business is business - just ask China.

Belvedere gives us another glimpse into his grotesque soul-
- And this whole time I thought you were afraid of big words! hehe And a penchant for dark poetry ... this impresses me.

“I give them credit for tapping Berman & Co. for taking on this monumental fight; but I truly believe it was for their own preservation, and nobody elses'. Call me critical, okay, I'm guilty. Who is pure anymore?”

The suggestion is that this fight should be a selfless one, fought by those who don’t care for their own self preservation. That selfless sacrifice denotes purity. - This was not the suggestion at all. Again, Mr. 147 has gravely missed my point. I gave the ITA credit for making the move with Berman (Yes, Robbie, better late than never); but I was critical of their motivation and timing. Basically, after three years of declining show attendance and a used equipment market that eclipses new equipment sales, a near stagnant rate of new operators entering the industry coupled with a marginal percentage of operators simply going under (all the result of 5-10 years of anti-tanning propaganda dominating the media), they had to do something. As the industry's main trade organization, it was their obligation to do so. But I agree with Brian, and many others: what took so long?

What an ugly and small man this Belvedere character must be.
- Opinions vary.

A rationally self-interested person will fight for his values—that’s what it means to have integrity. - Can't argue with this. Where'd you read it?

Belvedere, like Immanuel Kant, believes that to do something that results in personal gain is morally impure, as a pure morality is one that acts against its values, sacrificially. - Not true. I believe that to do something for personal gain simply for the sake of personal gain is immoral, even more so when the activity is to the detriment or at the expense of others. Like with your $18.88 monthly tanning marketing. That had nothing to do with supply and demand at the time; it was an arbitrary price you pulled out of your *** that you thought people would give you every month to tan in your salons, and ONLY your salons. You said it yourself, it was about the EFT trend you saw growing and its applications and profit potential for your business. I only wish I had thoght of it first! hehe But to actually do so would have gone agains my moral principles, as stated above. Answer this question Robbie - Is it A) Better to be respected in the industry, or B) Dominate the industry?

Pardon me if I’m critical of this douche bag, but he’s the last person anyone should listen to regarding this issue, and someone who I suggest you distance yourself from on the battlefield.
- Yeah, like you've ever seen a battle field or known brothers and sisters in arms. Face it cream puff, the most danger you ever faced were the come-ons from your coworkers at Willy Waggers, Inc. I did like your pleas to the audience to save themselves from me - nice touch. hehe

This battle has only just begun. Dispel the idea that victory means everybody in America must understand what we do. -Really? What does "victory" in this "battle" look like to you then?

This battle is won customer by customer, market by market. I have acheived enormous success in this regard. In a survey of over 30,000 of our customers, 87% reported that they thought tanning was healthy. -OMG! This one takes the cake! You surveyed 30,000 of your customers? You dolt! hehe Why don't you just start going to churches and asking the congregation if they think God is "good", or "not"? ROFLMAO! This is like going to your staff and asking them if they you're smart or not! (Don't ever put them on the spot like that though ... not nice). Anyway, how did the 13% break down, there Einstein? Undecideds? Unhealthy but like it anyways? What was your margin of error for this? Nevermind.

Everyone I meet and talk to easily understands this issue. Things are changing and will continue to do so, perhaps not as quickly as we might like, but we are changing the attitudes of everone we come into contact with.
- Must be your charming personality and the way "douche bag" sounds in person. hehe
Its up to all of you to do the same.
-Yeah, you're a real "team player" all right. But the message is solid.

I wrote: "Belvedere, like Immanuel Kant, believes that to do something that results in personal gain is morally impure"

He responds: "Not true. I believe that to do something for personal gain simply for the sake of personal gain is immoral"

To pursue your own happiness is immoral?

Am I missing something, or is this guy really as stupid as he sounds?

He's torn by the $18.88. He laments "I only wish I had thought of it first! hehe But to actually do so would have gone against my moral principles"

Now, low priced eft's are immoral?

This guy wouldn't know a moral principle if it hit him in the face.

"Answer this question Robbie -

Is it: A) Better to be respected in the industry, or B) Dominate the industry?"

I trust those reading will not accept the false alternative represented here- the idea that you can achieve only one of these, but not both.

Given the question, as poorly framed as it is, the answer is obviously B.

To strive for A requires the motivation of a second-hander, that is, one who is motivated by, and seeks, the approval of others.

To strive for B requires the motivation of an independent producer, that is, one who seeks extraordinary success in their chosen field of endeavor.

Now I have a question for you...

I was thinking about purchasing a small bus.

What color should I paint it?
