also your house has to be able to handle that kind of electricity draw. This bed is a straight plug in 110v I'm sure. Most 28+ lamps will need a "dryer" plug as they will draw 20amps or so if you are lucky. Most will need a hard wire to the breaker box

Yes I had a home bed with 16 lamps and it never got hot, but I tanned fine in it. It plugged straight into a wall outlet. But if you bought a used bed chances are the lamps may need to be changed. I agree with Unity, lamps are not an expensive item if its only going to you tanning in it.

Hunny -- a home unit for $300.00 will never be able to compete with a well maintained salon unit.

Crzytanner~ Yeah i might just have to replace the bulbs, it actually worked better last night....

missmojorising~ I bought a home tanning bed just so i could hook it up to a normal outlet, and i knew that the salon tanning beds didn't... Also i couldn't find a nice looking used salon bed and my bed at least looks nice!!

Try putting tanning lamps in the bed instead of light bulbs - couldn't resist

Call URI and order lamps your only buying 16, try and a relamp 3- 32's or two 52's there is some pain. Get compatible lamps for your unit, look at the FDA sticker onthe bed. You may be able to step it up a notch w/ better and or higher UVB lamps.

If I were you and knew anything about 'lamps' and tanning, I would only go with a 5.0 'LAMP'. OR you will fry your azzzz
