Delegate Morhaim, et al

SALES AND USE TAX – TANNING SERVICES

Requiring the Comptroller to distribute the sales and use tax revenue collected on tanning services in a specified manner to the Health Care Coverage Fund; and altering the definition of “taxable service” under the sales and use tax to impose the tax on tanning services.

EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2008
TG, § 2-1302.3 - added and § 11-101(m) - amended

WI has no sales tax on service/labor. However many places do charge sales tax. Depending on how you do the books, it can certainly pad the bottom line.

yes unity but i believe you have other taxes on the business like mercantile taxes... aol just recently compared states and Delaware was the "only" real tax free shopping state in the country.

Maryland could also oppose by saying they'll lose business to Delaware businesses.

This is only the first Maryland legislative fight this year. There is at least one other anti-tanning salon regulations bill also being prepared.

Maryland doesn't care about our business. They like more regulation, more taxes, bigger government, all the usual crap that comes when Democrats are in control.
