How to increase morning sales?

I open at 8am, usually tan 30-40 people by noon..

But these folks are mostly in a hurry, on the way to work / school--

They don't have time to chat or get involved in a sales pitch..

Should I run happy hour lotion sales.. like 8am-10am ?

I have tried the sampling in the morning.. but really no diff in sales

I would advertise lotions to make you smell great during and AFTER tanning if they are headed to work. :) How about a free cup of coffee or the local paper with a lotion purchase?

I would bet they don't want lotions cause they think they will smell like a coconut at work. They don't want others to know they tan. Carry some lotions that have a very minimal smell and advertise that. See if that sparks any interest.

Ask them if they are in such a hurry in the morning that they take a shower without using shampoo! Tanning without lotion is the same thing!

Or brushing their teeth without toothpaste.

Or working out in the gym and then running over to McDonalds and having a Big Mac meal for a snack.

My morning hours are dead!!! I need to find a way to get peeps in my salon in the morning.

Wow totaleclipse1! That's a lot of tanners from 8-12! You must have a lot of different units/levels! We live in a small area, so we only tan about 6-10 up to noon. Nights are the busiest...

We are the same way. There are some days that we have only about 2 people before noon. The afternoons and evenings are the busiest. But, we have to be open in the morning because there are a few people that only tan in the morning. We used to open at 10 and those few people complained so now we open at 9:30. Although, I am thinking that we will go back to 10 after season is over. Its just a waste of time. Maybe we should run some sort of special as well. How do you advertise it? Just in the salon?
