I was thinking of doing THIF Happy Hours on Friday mornings..
20% of lotions / products

I have the usual line of lotions, teeth whiteners and Hoodia Diet Pills..

We finished yesterday with 111 tanners, $523 in sales..

Our salon sits in a new shopping center surrounded by housing developments. Our morning tanners are usually in a hurry ( on their way to work / on their way home from working at the hospital down the street etc..)

Our peak day last year was 263 tanners and $1265 in sales

The amount of people coming thru your doors are good for this time of year, but your money is not. Need a better sales staff. Seeing 111 people you should have brought in over a thousand dollars. Hold a sales training meeting.

How big is your salon...how many beds? Thats a LOT of tanners. Neubie is right on...with that many tanners your $$$$$ should be through the roof! I sense that some sales training is in order!!! We occasionally have days like that with only 60-75 tanners! Upsell, push lotions (including samples and moisturizers). If that doesn't work you might need to look at your pricing. Is it too low? Your current PCA (per client average) is about $4.70. We set a minium of $6, but try to keep it closer to $7-$8...given some days its as low as $3, but we make up for it other days.

Or, you need to hire more staff. If you don't have enough staff to be able to take the time to show them the lotions you have for sale, all your doing is cleaning beds and rushing them in and out. No time to sell.

Instead of discounts...think of added value. You are already low in sales, no need to drop your sales any more.

Example:

Buy xyz lotion and receive 2 free stand up tans. or Buy xyz lotion over $49 and receive 1 week tanning in base bed.


Give them a reason to buy without discounting the $$ coming in.

As far as getting good numbers of tanners in before noon..

We open at 8, so many people tan in the morning and then we get our usual afternoon / evening tanners. we usually have 8 people waiting on us to open.. we have 8 beds
