I have been trying to analyse the Matrix V28 SU HP unit against the Saturn SU HP unit.
I wanted to test drive them, but the closest is about 500 miles away! The Saturn has a 2.3% UVB in the 12 minute version and the Matrix has 1.5% UVB in a 10 minute version. The Saturn has the German glass filters and I have not be able to find out what glass the matrix has. The Matrix has an ER system (reflection) which they say makes their 14,900 watt system just as effective as about 20,000 watts and teh Saturn is 20,200 watt. I would like to know what others think is the best one. My salon does not have any HP units and we need to add one. Which one do you all think is best and why? Thanks!!!!! Randy |

Re: Matrix V28 Versus Saturn Stand up
I don't know that I would add a Standup version for my first HP. Unless your doing it for room size restrictions.
If your looking, might as well look at the HPO while your at it. ![]() or ![]()

Re: Matrix V28 Versus Saturn Stand up
There are plenty of V28's in KY, you close to there.
If interested in an HPO, I have a customer in Columbus, OH with a gently used one he is looking to move. The Saturn will tan no doubt with that much UVB. The Matrix has a much better look & has 5 banks of lamps instead of 4. Have you considered looking at the V19 Matrix? That has 4 banks of lamps like the Saturn. Wattage doesn't mean squat anymore. It has to do with reflectors, glass & power system. There are many new systems that use a 500W lamp & it tans like a 800-1000W lamp. |

Re: Matrix V28 Versus Saturn Stand up
Room size is the constraint - I have a 7 x 7 room that is a storage room right now and would like to add HP to my bed mix. Laydown HP won't fit in any of my free spaces.
I did check out the HPO, however, with a 14 minute tan time, most tanners don't want to stand that long. Most have said they would stand for 10 minutes; at most 12 minutes. I have not really been able to figure out what is the difference between the two - any other suggestions? Thanks!!! Randy |

Re: Matrix V28 Versus Saturn Stand up
I found out that the Matrix has an Italian filter called Murano.
The distributer mentioned that "the filter glass is an Italian glass called Murano. He said it's nearly the best" What do others think? I have heard that the German filters are better in reducing Infrared waves reducing the heat while the Italian tends to run hotter. Can anyone comment more on that? It appears that the Matrix with 1.3% UVB, ER system, 10 minute time and fits in a 7 x7 room might be the best fit, but I still want to hear what tanners think about the Matrix, what Tanning Salon owners think about the V28 along with any information anyone can share! Thanks again, Randy |

Re: Matrix V28 Versus Saturn Stand up
Most only use the HPO for 12 min.
Can you imagine the color you would get by going an extra 2 min in an HP unit??? That is why it works so well. Your customers will use what you have. If thye have never seen anything else, how would they know there is anything different unless you tell them?

Re: Matrix V28 Versus Saturn Stand up
I haven't tested the Sportarrado yet "Tomorrow Sun" but ive always thought it was one of the best looking Standup HP available .Bed customers wouldnt mind trying it because the design is so open. Unfortunately when we got our 1st HP stand-upabout 4-5 years ago, i didnt look at it because Sportarrado didnt have as big a presense as they have now in the Tanning industry and i didnt really hear anything about the unit at that time. The time that i was looking for a HP standup i think the Saturn HP had been on the market for a number of months. At this stage i had 2 Sunsports HP , but i had kept hearing through different people in the tanning industry that the Matrix L33 was a good HP bed and Tan America who sold the beds had a good reputation for their customer service, and i noticed they had a Standup HP Matrix called the V28. the closest Saturn HP they had to me was in San diego, and me and my general manager made the drive , and we both tanned in the Saturn HP. This was the 1st HP standup up i had ever tanned in so i didnt really have anything to compare it to. I found that the facials on the unit were way too hot for my liking, but the air system worked good and both me and my manager got a fair amount of color. My other personal feelings about the Stand-up was that the finish on the body work was not fantistic and i felt that the unit was pretty bland, and it was missing the wow expression new and existing customers salons have who stop on the way to their bed and ask about a particular wow bed that caught their eye and want to know what this unit does differently from the beds they have always been tanning on. a few weeks later me my general manger went to a salon in ventura to try The Matrix V28 HP standup. My 1st impression was that the v28 was definetely a WoW Tanning unit. The unit ran cooler on the face, and i got pretty much the same tanning results as the Saturn HP. My general manager felt pretty much the same about the Matrix v28. I also was impressed with the finish of the Matrix , so we decided if the pricing was right we would go with the Matrix v28. The Saturn still tanned as well as the Matrixv28, and the only way i would get the Saturn HP was if i could get the price of the Saturn for 15-20% less than the Matrix V28. At the end of the day they were very similar in price so i had no doubt we were getting the Matrixv28 HP.
Randy TheTropics08 Randy I would definetely go and tan in the mastersun, the Saturn and the the Sportarrado yourself and see what you think yourself. Dont give too much notice to what people say on the boards. For what you gonna spend on the a standup HP the cost of a flight is worth every penny to try them out. The last thing i can add to this thread is that you really cant go wrong in my personal opinion with the Matrix V28. We got ours in 04 and the V28 has already done about 5000hrs. I was thinking of getting another one 18 months ago because it was getting very popular; but i made the decision to sell my Sunsport Horizontal HP's and replace them with 2 new Matrix L33. Good luck with whatever unit you decide on. Im going on vacation for a month on Friday, so if you need any telephone nos or persons name or anything you can call me at my Irvine Salon. |

Re: Matrix V28 Versus Saturn Stand up
I would say dont get either. Look at more of the other markets for HP stand up. You should look more overseas and stop looking at the american importers.

Re: Matrix V28 Versus Saturn Stand up
Jim - where in Richmond? I would love to try the V28!
Spring - thanks for taking the time to post your response. I am also hearing from others that they tan about the same. Thank you so much for your post. Have fun on your vacation! nlabtec - do you have any recommendations on European HP Standups? or do you just prefer not to do business with importers? |
