Re: Airbrush vs mystic or magic tan

We supply undergarments, hair caps, and eye protection... we also supply nose filters which are mandatory to wear. We ask them to use lipstick or chapstick as well, if they don't have it we provide one at no cost for now.

Re: Airbrush vs mystic or magic tan

I've never owned an air-brush system so I won't pretend to know all the pros or cons. The one variable that my wife, and numerous customers, attest to is that the person doing the application needs to know what they're doing or it sucks. Also the quality of equipment and solution come into play. To make the statement that nothing beats airbrush doesn't stand-up to scrutiny, but hey, there's something to be said of confidence. I own a VersaSpa from Magic Tan and it is absolutely fantastic. Our customers love it. A couple of additional pros for it are that like airbrush you have a lot of options such as spraying just the legs, just the face, or the whole body. Due to the fact the customer has total privacy they can do a "complete" tan and not have to worry about disposable undergarments and/or feeling uncomfortable if they chose to do a nude spray. I also know exactly how many sprays I will get from a bottle of solution. I know some of the old style booths often left much to be desired but if you've never tried the VersaSpa you owe it to yourself to find one near you and give it a test. Just go to versaspasystem.com and do a search. One last note...many of our customers have tried air-brush and were not happy for a variety of reasons. I'm sure there are many spray-booth customers out there that feel the same. Just go with what will work best for your set-up. Either way know you will have some competitive strengths and weaknesses. Minimize the weaknesses, maximize the strengths and you'll be fine.

Re: Airbrush vs mystic or magic tan

eileen,
how much do you charge for your spray tans? that's nice that you provide them with all that stuff but it seems like it would really cut into your profit?

I was looking into starting to do spray tans but none of my girls want to do them because they don't feel comfortable spraying someone in the nude. Don't most people do it in the nude? or do most people wear a bathing suite or underwear?

Re: Airbrush vs mystic or magic tan

Most want to wear undergarments. I charge $40 and do most of the applications myself. I have 2 employees practicing as well that are just about ready to charge full price.
