tinea versicolor

Ok so I've had T.V. since I was 14 and it's never quite gone away. The derm. says that there is no fungus still living, but the coloration hasn't gone back to normal and it's been years. I know that it can re-accur but I'd like to get the color evened out for once. Mine doesn't really conglomerate into patches but rather as indiviual dots.. i just bought "Arrest" hoping that will work to clear even out my color. Its on my back, torso, and upper chest. I'm asian and medium complexion, and they aren't bright white, but not as dark as i am. Has anyone used Arrest before? If I put it all over will it also tan the parts that arent white? It would be hard to only put them on the indiviual dots...Also, should I tan while usuing the product? It doesn't mention anything, it just says to use daily. I am usuing selsum blue as a body wash to keep the yeast at bay, does anyone know a better product that is O.T.C?
Thanks!

Re: tinea versicolor

You ask EXCELLENT question!

I am of the HIGHEST AUTHORITY on fixing TV as I also suffer from this affliction (we should get rubber bracelets or something)

Arrest will do nothing for your condition. NIZORAL is the only product over the counter that works the best and works everytime without stinky sulfer.

Buy 2 of them. One you use EVERYDAY till the bottle is all gone and then one to use once a week till it's really gone for the SEASON.

See, for some reason skin doctors have LOST THEIR MINDS lately and rely on science that really doesn't exist. You can't get rid of it completely. EVERYONE has it. It's like telling someone they are completely ACNE FREE which makes no sense.

That's the stuff though. Get it and be happy.

I think I have this also. I've noticed little white spots on my arms and chest recently. I've been using Selsun Blue, which seems to be working, but it's taking a really long time. I may have to try Nizoral though

Re: tinea versicolor

Tinea versicolor fungus is part of the normal adult skin. It is basically the heat from the beds and tingles that causes the fungus to flair.

Re: tinea versicolor

So Arrest won't help the color become even again? I was hoping the spots would fade over the last 6 years but it never has and my Derm. doesn't seem to care because it's "not harmful". Yes. it doesn't hurt to have it but I also don't like looking like a leopard.

Re: tinea versicolor

Why arrest? It just does nothing. Do you still have the spots or are they gone and left some discoloration behind?

If that's the case just tan the area with NO TANNING LOTION for a while. Then they should clear up.

Re: tinea versicolor

The spots are "gone" and but my skin is still discolored. Last time I went tanning the skin around the dots tanned but the dots did not, which is why I thought arrest might work. Also, should i use nizoral as a hair shampoo or as a body wash? Should i leave it on and then wash it off? Man, why don't Derms know anything?? Lol you seem to know a lot more and you're free.....
