Slow December

Last month, November, was great, way ahead of 2006. Then December comes along and the bottom has fallen out. Worst ever.

Is anyone else experiencing the same?

Dave

Our December sales are the same as last year. Our new customers have been down this year but sales are ahead by 7%, PatParadise, (IMWW)

Re: Slow December

Our December has fallen down over LY. Let's hope the remaining days before Christmas make up for some of the deficit.

Re: Slow December

It's gonna be about 75 degrees today, which is insane for December.... so, I'm not sure if that will inspire people to come in and tan, or keep them outside...

So far, we're up 6.07% over the first 10 days in December last year. I'm hoping it continues.

Re: Slow December

For those of you having a slow month, how are you promoting your biz?have you spent money on advertising?how are you trying to lure people back into your salon?

We have invested a lot in advertising over the past year and it has kept traffic steady.
I don't care how big of a customer base you have or how long you've been in business, you need to let them know your still there.

Re: Slow December

Opposite here. Nov was ok with the tail end picking up. Now in Dec we are ahead a decent amount. We have a $5k TV ad campaign launching in Jan - that should help a lot, if not it should pay for itself.

With all the salons closing around this area there are two things I noticed. A weakening of consumer confidence and an upsurge in new clients. They are coming in, but not buy large packages. That may make for a stronger year in the end since the per customer average will be higher - larger packages have larger per tan discounts. We are expecting a more leveled month to month versus the radical ups and downs.

But boy do I miss 2004! :(
