Re: VO ----SELLING NON WORKING BEDS !!!

Tantalk does not charge a member fee. Tantalk is not to blame for someone buying a bed with no warranty and paying the full balance before setting up the equipment. That's just a bad business decision (learn by our mistakes usually). Tantalk should re-think them as a sponsor if they have several valid complaints....but it's certaintly not a reason to blame Tantalk. I do however think Tantalk and posting in public here will help you more then if you didn't have Tantalk. Think about it if Dusty doesn't make good now I doubt he'll get future business here or many other sites now that's it public.

Re: VO ----SELLING NON WORKING BEDS !!!

By no means am I or my friend blaming tantalk, just would not have gotten screwed if they were not sponsors. She chose them since they were sponsors. Tantalk cant control what others do.

Re: VO ----SELLING NON WORKING BEDS !!!

I didn't single out anybody in particular for blaming tantalk. :)

Also if you do a search in google for "used tanning beds" VO will come up third. Believe me anybody thinking about buying a used tanning bed will most likely do a search in google. What I'm getting at is if it weren't for these types of salon owners situations we wouldn't have anywhere to post about business deals gone bad to help each other out.

Re: VO ----SELLING NON WORKING BEDS !!!

In there defense i have bought several items form them that were in the shape they claimed. My only problem was they were not correctly disassebled so reassembly became more than anticipated. With that said I did have one piece of a bed badly damaged in shipping that VO quickly cut a check to me for reimbursement. So i have to commend them on that. ANd is was a several K part). All the eupuipmnt up and running now in our stores and look as good as new.

I do have lower expectations for used equipmnet. I typically have to ask myself is the savings i am getting on this bed going to be worth the aggrevation of getting it back to togher and looking perfect. Usually not feeling it while its going on, but once installed I have been happy.

I would buy from them again for the right deal on newer stuff.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SALE – ALL SALES ARE FINAL

All equipment is sold as is, where is, with no warranties implied or given. VO makes no express warranty of any kind and disclaims all implied warranties to include warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. Further, no commitment is made by VO as to the functionality or condition of any item. The buyer is responsible for the shipping, packaging and/or storage of the purchased equipment. All purchased equipment must be removed from VO’s facilities or its location within 10 business days or be subject to storage fees. Storage fees will accrue at $5.00 per day per pallet (48x48) of equipment. VO accepts no responsibility for damage or loss (be it physical, monetary, or intangible in nature) sustained by any of the parties involved either directly or indirectly as a result of the shipping of equipment. The buyer assumes all responsibility for the purchased equipment to include any damage and/or loss that may occur after the execution of the sale.
SHIPPING

Purchased items are packaged and shipped at buyer's expense. VO does provide packaging services (packaging will not be done until equipment has been paid for in full). VO is not a shipping company, agent or broker of shipping. Details and requirements regarding the shipment of purchased equipment on behalf of the buyer by VO should be discussed at the time of sale with the remarketing representative handling the transaction. Equipment can be scheduled for pick up, with no earlier than a 2 week notice.
Wow, these terms and conditions are crazy. First of all selling used equipment you should have a technician throughly go over the equipment and make sure everything is fine and in working condition and all the parts are there BEFORE YOU SELL IT, unless you have discussed it with the buyer of what is wrong with the unit, what is missing etc. It's just good business. Also most company's will offer some sort of warranty for the first 90 days exluding labor, lamps, shocks and acrylics. If your selling something "as is" then you are normally selling junk anyway and you should express that to the buyer. If this customer was told the amount of hours on the unit and if it came in a 100 hours different that is stall wrong. To me that is grounds for a refund right there let alone parts missing, beds not working etc. They should make a trip there to make things right.

As far as shipping goes, if you are in the market selling beds you should have a shipping a packaging center set up for what you are selling. Salon owners don't have the means to make sure the units are packed the correct way and have shipping company that offers discounts etc for shipping. Also if there is damage then the seller can do a claim on the damage. If the customer signs for the equipment free and clear and states there is not damage then that is a different story.

Just doesn't sound right to me at all. I don't know the facts or if the statement is all true about what has happended but sounds like the buyer got screwed in this situation.

Best thing to do as a buyer is:

Inspect the unit in person (if you can)
Get pictures of the unit prior to purchase
Get something in writing stating the condition of the unit.
Have the seller ship the item (so they are liable for damages)
Get some sort of written warranty prior to purchase
Pay with a credit card if they are excepted.
Know what you are buying
Know who you are buying from
Have them deliver and install if possible etc.

Only my opinion............. good luck to you

Re: VO ----SELLING NON WORKING BEDS !!!

Excuse me Eileen as I do respect you as a poster but these people have been a SPONSOR on this site for many many moons and have made plenty of business from it and have seen plenty of tanning beds in their many years as used tanning bed salesmen.

You don't think you'd know every single bed inside and out by now? I've only been in the tanning industry 5 years and I can tell you if my tanning beds came completely disassembled I could point out what's missing and put the entire thing together NO PROBLEM.

These people go though so many beds you'd think if they were good at their work they'd actually learn the ins and outs of the beds so they could AVOID this type of situation WHICH IS NOT THE FIRST TIME NOT BY A LONG SHOT that they are being called out.

Instead they put a DISCLAIMER on their site that basically says they have NO RESPONSIBILITY to what they sell you.

UNFORTUNATELY that doesn't cover the FACT that they are placing ads that are "BAIT AND SWITCH" or just untrue and that lil disclaimer DOES NOT COVER MISREPRESENTATION OF AN AD.

Sorry it doesn't.

NOW, are some of the BUYERS to blame in these cases? Maybe. $10-12K for anything can make one's blood boil for any small reason ESPECIALLY if these are supposed to be used to MAKE THE MONEY.

So remember, these people are OUT money and OUT the revenue the bed(s) are supposed to be generating.

THAT'S REAL REAL BAD.

NOW, what's TANTALK'S part in this?

As arguably the "#1 tanning forum on the internet" they should have some discretion on who they want as sponsors on here. There's a reason HAPPYHOLES.COM isn't an advertiser on here. NO enlargement or breast firming pills.

Well, the reason people would come here instead of the 20 other sites (whatever) is due to THE QUALITY OF THE INFORMATION IS SUPPOSED TO BE TOP END and NOT a salesman in salon owner's clothing taking advantage of people.

Am I saying that this is what this company is doing? I dunno but it's not the first time this has come up. Not even close.

If they were new to the industry then I'd say THEY'LL LEARN but they are not. Been here longer than me and I know EVERYTHING and I'm an idiot.

Re: VO ----SELLING NON WORKING BEDS !!!

All I know as a businesswoman is if I read those TOS I would walk away from that company. Again Tantalk should re-think them as a sponsor if they have warranted complaints. I have no problem with that and have stated that. I think they're lucky to have Tantalk to air their problem and get real help. Again this is a company that is 3rd ranked in Google under "Used Tanning Beds". Think of how many tanning salon owners that don't come to Tantalk might be getting swindled with no help.
