Re: Slow season in so cal
Some of out schools started this week, but we don't really deal with school age kids. The good thing is that most vacations are over with this week and more people will be around and back at work.
Brandy, PM me with your progress on massage therapy, I am curious to see how far along you are with it...

Re: Slow season in so cal
So I guess doing 60 to 70 per day is not bad just in tanning. Truth be know my biggest competor was bought out in April and is just running it into the ground. Soooooooooo I am getting 3 to 5 new clients daily from them, it's a nice early Christmas present. I should be up to 80 or 90 tanners daily next month. I love a $10,000 month in slow season.

are you up on Carmel Mountain Rd? the former owner tried to sell us their salon last year. you're in a tough area with a couple big-wigs nearby to compete with. good luck!

Re: Slow season in so cal
In my 20 years in the tanning biz, I've always experienced a bell curve from Jan to Dec. with May being the peak. That's the East Coast, it may be different in California and I can only speak for myself. The biggest myth in tanning is that it picks up in the fall-winter because you can't tan outside. Stop 10 people on the street and they'all all surmise that. I wish!! People don't like to stick out with a tan in winter on the East Coast.

Re: Slow season in so cal
Yea, you go taken for a ride. Then again its hard to feel sorry for somebody that did not research this industry before spending the ching. This first thing you would have learned is this is a SEASONAL business. Too many people with home equity loans opening businesses they know nothing about over the past 5 years. The burst of this housing bubble is going to HELP this industry in the long run.
The first real mark of slow season is Labor day. You have to wait until Jan or Feb to start getting busy again. After Labor day you should see another drop in business by about 20%. Then October and November are pure torture. |
