I am buying a salon and the Previous owner decided one day she couldn't do it anymore because of thing's at home and so she closed the salon. No notice was given she just locked it up and put a sign on the Door for customers and it said if you have lotion's here I will get them back to you in 90 days. It’s been a month and a half and she did not get them their lotions. Now because of this I am getting the salon at a wonderful price!!
But some people want me to keep the name. I say NO! She has ruined the name... The salon is in a GREAT location and makes great money. I have seen Financials for two plus years. I am so Impressed with this place. Its wonderful and we are very excited to be getting into it. It was just remodeled and is beautiful! I am going to contact all the customers personally and honor their packages they did not finish and also offer them a free spray tan or something.... She did not have Spray tan we are putting it in, so it will be new to them any help would be great! thank you so much!! Shannon |

Re: New to the boards! Have a Question!!!
Shannon, as far as the name of the salon, that is your choice but make it a good one. If you keep the same name then make sure all your new advertising shows under new ownership. Yes, you will definatley need to honor all the old packages and hope that she kept good records on them. I would also make sure that all the equipment you have in the salon is not under a lease. If any of them are, you will need to get that straightened out. If you ever need any help or questions don't hesitate to ask. Most on Tan Talk will give you an honest answer. You will get some B.S. comments as well but just regard them. Some like to just joke around. Good luck with your new business.

Re: New to the boards! Have a Question!!!
I would change the name so everyone knows that its under new administration and like Sarge said advertise the fact that its not own by the same people. Honoring old membership is also very smart this way the people will to back to somethiing new and better. Good luck to you

Re: New to the boards! Have a Question!!!
I agree with Claudine and Sarge....change the name, make this a fresh start for you and the salon. Good move honoring the packages, this will help build good customer loyalty. Good luck with your new venture Shannon.

Re: New to the boards! Have a Question!!!
shannon -
Congrats on your take over. My Husband would like to offer his services to you if you need any assistance. He services all types of equipment and may be able to give you history information on your salons equipment. We agree that if you change the name it will help to show customers that a commitment has been made to change and better the services. It's an additional expense and process but it will pay for itself in time. |

Re: New to the boards! Have a Question!!!
I would suggest a name change also, but keep the current phone number. just tell her to leave the lotions in the salon and youll take care of it when u reopen. always honor packages when buying a exsisting salon....its guaranteed clients!
good luck and keep us up to date

Re: New to the boards! Have a Question!!!
we bought our salon under similar circumstances - HOWEVER we chose not to change the name due to having it everywhere already - phone books signage cards, gc - the upfront cost of changing all of that would have been too much cost for us at the time - we did get a huge banner sign made that said simply - " NEW OWNERS" -
i wish you the best of luck on this - and i agree with sarge about leases, we had a leasing company coming in here looking for a bed that the previous owner bought under a lease and never paid on it - (she had sold it to someone else so we never had possession of it) but if we had we would have had to pay big $$$. |
