Serious inquiries only!

Whenever I see an ad with the phrase,"Serious inquiries only!" I assume the seller wants to sell whatever they are advertising for a serious amount of money more than it is worth.

I know I think that phrase is dumb! Why would I inquire if I was not at least mostly serious? and If I am not serious, but curious instead, whats it to them? Maybe when I inquire i will become seriously interested.

I dont get it.

It says to me that the seller does not want to negotiate their price because they know it is probably unreasonable, but who knows.

To me it means: I have it "for sale" and if you think my price is not fair don`t call. I always think they will negotiate very little..........I am not very fond of the "serious call only".........I really like the "must sell fast" or "asking so so or best offer" I know then I am not going to pay so so for it!!

That's funny Eggie, cause we were at a drive thru the other day my hubby said that to the lady in the window. It was hilarious. Since we aren't real religious. Anyway.

I don't think "serious inquires only" means they want more than it's worth. I think most of the time it means that they want a fair negotiation and that they are not going to give it away. "No tire kickers", so to speak.
