ITA Change and Support

I think the ITA needs change and stronger support. I heard Rick Kueber and Larry Fleschner are running for salon sector. I know Rick has plenty of passion for this Industry and would make and excellent choice.

The Nominating Committee of the Indoor Tanning Association is pleased to announce that the nomination period for seats on the ITA Board of Directors is now open. Elected board members will serve a three-year term of service commencing October 1, 2007 and concluding September 30, 2010.

This year, a total of five seats on the board will be up for election, one seat in each of the five membership sectors: Equipment Manufacturers, Lotion Providers, Allied Products, Distributors and Salon members.

In those sectors, the following incumbent Board members have indicated their intentions to seek reelection:
  • Manufacturer: Bill Pipp
  • Allied: Christian Sauska
  • Distributor: Chuck Robinson
  • Salon: Larry Fleschner
If you would like to be nominated to run for a seat on the ITA Board of Directors, please click here to download an application or find election materials in the Members Only section of the ITA website.

Membership on the ITA Board of Directors requires a significant commitment in time, effort, and resources. That membership sector must be the nominee’s principle business sector in the industry.

The executed application should include information about the nominee’s business, how long the nominee’s company has been in the industry, their involvement in previous industry activities, information regarding any other leadership experience outside of the indoor tanning industry such as service on other boards etc., and a photograph for posting on the website with candidate information. The application should include a letter of support from an ITA member company from the sector the nominee seeks to represent.

The completed application and letter of support should be mailed to:

Re: ITA Change and Support

Why would you vote for Rick? What could/can he do that others running for that seat can't/won't?

Re: ITA Change and Support

Matt,

Thanks for the support.

Miss Mojo - I certainly feel that I can make a difference, otherwise I would not be running. I have years of successful experience with participation in various trade organizations during my prior career in video rental. Furthermore, I understand why the division between salon owners and the ITA currently exists. I have witnessed their shortfalls firsthand.

I think there are 2 things that need to change first and foremost within the ITA:

1. Communication with salon members - this is the one thing that I personally have encountered as an ITA member and the most often complaint I hear from other members. The ITA has to learn to effectively communicate with the current members and potential future members.

2. Salon owner involvement - salon owner involvement can and will increase based solely on improved communication. I think that most salon owners don't realize that they really need the ITA. The biggest threat to any salon owner is over legislation of the tanning industry. We NEED the ITA. The ITA is the only trade organization capable and willing to protect the rights of salon owners and our customers. The million dollar question is what will motivate salon owners to join the ITA and to participate in the growth of the industry?

Rick

Re: ITA Change and Support

Rick,

I appreciate your comments and your candor. I wish you luck with this endeavor.

The ITA's lack of communication has been detrimental to their image and their bottom line IMO -- perhaps you can have an effect on changing that up.

Personally, I've found it difficult to change a tigers stripes -- even with the best bottle of Clairol, but I'm going to remain optimistic -- what other choice do I have?
