Good point Mr. B! Ohhh Neon, that is the PERFECT home unit! Spray, HP, not sure if this company is even in business but what a freakin tan you can get. I'm sure it's pretty hot too!

Re: Question about tanning bed to be used in home.

jenn, you asked and i answered. here is more detail if you must.
a commercial unit will need to be set up with 220 volts. that means you will need a room devoted to your bed and it will cost you a bundle to get it wired. even if you do it yourself or have an electrician friend, the cost of the wire a, breakers and possibly a subpanel, may even cost as much as you are paying for your used bed. Then you may need a buck booster if the amps coming into your house aren't right for the unit. thats another big chunk of change.

if you are going to be the only one to use it you may get away without some ventilation or ac but if you plan on letting your friends use it you WILL need to get some AC. If your friends are using it, you will have to make sure they don't abuse the privledge because i guarantee they will over do it and get burned and then YOU will be responsible.
when neon said home units aren't so hot, i think he meant that they aren't as strong , not really talking about heat but , not so good. they run on 110 and usually are 80/100 watt systems.
the High pressure facial lamps are very dangerous if the glass gets cracked and you need to learn more about that before you consider a commercial unit. Plus your electric bill will rise and i would guess that if you use it daily, you may find it cheaper to just go to a salon and use their machines.
Your used bed will probably need to have the lamps replaced as i wouldn't think they would be of much value at this point. nobody sells a used bed with new lamps and those can cost as much as 20 each. times 30 and you are talking another huge chunk of change.
can you get cheaper? yes, but remember, you get what you pay for.
If you do decide to go further with this idea, i can pretty much assure you that in a year or less, your bed will be off, covered with crap like clothes, furniture, or just boxes of stuff that is laying around that is better out of sight , out of mind and you will have a very expensive dust collector in your house.
If you really want a home unit. think about the shower unit that you were provided a link to. at least if you put that in your house it will possibly increase the value of your home, and be a lot more convenient than just taking up space.
Hope this answers some of your Q's.

Re: Question about tanning bed to be used in home.

What i mean is that if you are going to get a tanning bed in your home you must be a tanner. That means you are currently using a salon. Get a bed and stop going to the salon - taking food out of my babies mouth. You are asking what steps will i need to take to stop doing business at the salon - are you following me now.

If you have noticed we have given you all the negatives that you will encounter once you decide to stop doing business with a saolon. We will see you back though we almost always do.

Re: Question about tanning bed to be used in home.

well really what they are saying is that youre asking the wrong people for that, do you think that a tanning salon business is going to give you advice about how to tan at home? No, because the home tanning bed business has basically put alot of folks out of business. And the funny thing is when these people who have home units come into my salon and ask about lamp replacement, you're looking at alot of money, so most just give up and tan with me.

Cool Re: Question about tanning bed to be used in home.

Hi, Jenn3810. I bought a commercial unit(Pro 24ST Sunvision) to use in my home. I tan 5-6 times/week and there is NO difference in my electric bill. You WILL need a special outlet AND sufficient ampage in your home wiring.

Re: Question about tanning bed to be used in home.

Actually you can connect it to your dryer plug, but you will not be able to tan and dry clothes at the same time. It will save you hundreds and you can do it yourself.

So what you are saying is the Tanning bed does not use ANY electricity.
OK!

Re: Question about tanning bed to be used in home.

A tanning be used by one or two people in a house will add no more than a couple dollars to a monthly bill. So while there IS a difference, there isn't necessarily going to be a NOTICABLE difference. At 5 - 6 times per week, which is a lot, you're talking 2 - 5 bucks a month in Kwh of electricity.
