well I am very glad the little pup is okay too. He may always be afraid of bigger dogs, they don't usually forget about something that has hurt them. Being afraid of big dogs is not such a bad thing, I am afraid of them too.

it's funny, because i meant to put pictures up the other day of our new kitten! and then the next day i found that she has worms... so instead of making an appointment for her kitty shots and vacs, we ended up taking tanner.

i want to scream right now. i am soooooo stressed out!

the kitten needs to go to the vet, but it will be next month by the time i can afford to do everything for her that needs to be done... i also want to test her for feline lukemia. so right now, i am keeping her food and water away from the other cat and keeping her in her carrier when we are not holding her. and praying that she is all good till next month!

I don't know how it is in CA but in DE your pet needs to be registered and if it isn't you will get fined. When a dog attacks here that is serious and .has to be reported so they can track if this dog is a danger to society. If that dog mauls some other child next week and causes serious injury then you did nothing to stop that. :( I would absolutely report it and pay my own fine if necessary.....bottom line is the issue is with the dog that attacked and that's a danger to your neighborhood. I hope tanner and everybody else is doing OK. :)

Eileen, THAT is what I am thinking!

I am thinking that he could do it again, just as easily... and our neighborhood is FULL of children playing in their front yards. My kids are not aloud out there anymore. It sucks, but nobody can tell me that the dog won't attack my children! And now that I know that the owner is in Italy, and he is in his back yard by himself, nobody can assure me that he will not dig his way out, out of frustration!

The officer asked me at the time if I wanted the dog quaranteened (sp?), and I said no. but now that i know the whole story about the owner, I do want him put away till she comes back. and I would like to know the background of this dog.

I have never owned a vicious dog. i realize that an animal is always unpredictable. But if a dog can jump at a child, then somethings up.

And i do think that any dog that would grab another dog by the neck is viscious and shouldn't be around children and other animals.

I realize I take my chances any time i take my dogs out, and now will forever have to alter my routine...

I do think it is now my responsibility to help make others aware of this dog and help prevent it from happening to someone elses children and animals. In our neighborhood the fences are all wood and decrepid... this dog could have easily gotten another dog!

i don't think my husband was worried about paying a fine for having our dog off of a leash... I think he was worried that he would be fined for putting a child in danger! Like a child endangerment thing, and he was worried because what would that do to our family, being that we have 4 small children!

oh, Tanner is registered and completely up to date on his shots (thank God). However, the vet office did tell me that those shots are not guaranteed... and that we still need to keep an eye on him for any differences in his behaviour and such!

I felt kinda dumb, because I thought once you got those shots and the rabbies shot, that you were 100 % taking care of your animal and other peoples animals as well!

O Carol, what a terrible story and it is so disappointing that such a person does not take any responsibility for something that clearly could have been prevented if she had acted differently. Yuck!

Tanner is adorable and I hope he gets over this quickly. And that he doesn't change to being very scared...

Could you took pics of the yard to show the blood in YOUR grass to prove your dogs were in YOUR yard when it happened??? That would definately make her dog the attacker and the wrong one???
