Re: I wanna know.
well, for new clientele we usually do some flyering of cars but in some places you can't do that. I always have a great tand and great hair style. We are a hair salon and tanning salon so those go hand and hand. Just like a stylist your best advertisment is word of mouth and yourself. If you go to the mall or something like that take your cards. When you see someone with great skin or what ever give them your card or take pens with your info on them. people will keep pens longer than cards and they leave them places also.. just think.. how many times have you lost your pen and need to use someone elses? I give pens out for free here at my salon.. also I know that telephone and internet phone book stuff is expensive but if you pay to be the 1st salon located then your chances are better of getting a call and prosepctive client. we also work with the county and city offices and have coupons put in people pay checks.. that work good. Also we have a sidewalk talker out front of the salon telling today's special. get them in on the special and only offer that to new clients then with great customer service you will be able to retain them after the special is over onto a membership of some sort.

Re: I wanna know.
We are going to be running an early bird special.. if you come in before 12 noon or something like that then you get a price break.. Might be about to get some of those stay at home parents to come in before the youngin ( is this a word?!) get up.

He did it last year, too. Peak season.

Re: I wanna know.
Don't do the EFT freeze for the summer. That defeats the concept of an EFT. They are basically paying for a year without cash upfront. If you let them freeze it is cake. We started with the $5 freeze and then after first season got rid of that. I do not see an increase in cancellations in the summer. I will allow a freeze for medical reasons and that I don't charge for. By the way my cancellation rate on EFT's is very low. I charge $27 a mth for the level I.

Re: I wanna know.
Brandy,
I wouldn't spend a lot of cash doing a promo this time of year. We used to do mailings and ran a special of $99 for the summer. I think they got something like 3 or 4 mths. Anyway we thought we were rolling in the cash with this promo. Then I read a thread on here and decided I was going to go last summer without running any of those crazy promos. Guess what my sales were up. I think the thread was something like those people that buy your specials in the summer were gonna tan anyway regardless. The best promo we do is a $1 tan. Each year it is different, sometimes it is for an entire week and others it is just 1 or 2 days. Always an alternate offer, like trade your $1 tan for a percentage off. We do postcards that we hand out at a local parade and mailing. Sometimes if I procrastinate then I just do flyers at the local grocery stores and businesses. The postcards at the parade seem to have done the best at bringing in new clients.

Re: I wanna know.
I dont apply to most of what yall are talking about... I have EFT and then I run a $20 first airbush, $30 regular price. I do do packages of 2 for $45, 3 for $60, and 6 for $90.
One of the chains here is doing a happy hour from 2-4 free tans with a $3 upgrade and the other I cant even expain WHY they are doing what they did... they ran a special the other day on the radio that ANYONE who showed up at one of the busyist clubs on a Friday night got a certificate for 6 months free tans. |
