For $48,000 you better be managing a 50 bed salon, not a 7 bed salon. |

Re: does this salon investment sound good
One other thing: There are some really nice, helpful people in here and then there are some really bitter people in here. They try to discourage anyone from opening a salon by telling you how poorly they do and how bad the industry is for tanning. If you ask me they are either full of **** or they aren't doing a very good job running their salons. The tanning industry is no different than any other. If you put the work in and you know what you are doing than you can make money. If you think all you have to do is open the doors and the money rolls in you are in trouble. My wife will be running my salon ( I run another business) but don't think I haven't spent hundreds of hours over the last few months reading everything think I could on the industry and listening to people who are successful in this business. I suggest you do the same. And don't settle for less than 50%. Also, look into used beds on this site. I picked up a used (1000 hrs) Suncapsule Cyclone 200W for $5500. It's not the best standup out there but it beats the pants off any new standup out there under $10,000. I also picked up a rebuilt Matrix for $16,500. All my other beds will be new but I saved a boatload of money and now I have the only high pressure bed in my county and an above average standup. My total cost for 6 beds with buck boosters, delivery and setup was $62,500 and I have a much better lineup of beds than anyone within 30 miles of me. It doesn't guarantee success, but with the help of SunSally I feel very confident. Don't believe everything you hear in here (especially the negative comments).
