Re: What do you sell at your salon?

****, I`m gonna lose the farm on this thread if I don`t get out of here. Haven`t even checked the carwash this morning. Hey there is an idea (level 2 tan gets free carwash or if one of my renters is late they have to buy a package.) hehe

Catch up when I get to Town Hall...............Mayor..aka JJ:lol:

Re: What do you sell at your salon?

I agree, there are some salons that go way overboard.

Re: What do you sell at your salon?

I only offer Tanning and skincare products. But I also see where a salon could offer other products as well. My example was to elaborate on a community that would accept that concept.. Because you don’t know what you never had. So in the communities’ eyes it would be a professional salon because there is nothing to compare it to.

Re: What do you sell at your salon?

I'm sure Tnannie is referring to MY Salon which had a store on the other side of the Salon. I am in a town over 10 miles away. We sold Log Furniture and we had everything but it was separated from the Tanning and was an awesome store but in the same building as our tanning. Tnannie has never been in my salon yet on this board called my salon a crap salon in a crap town.

I am now up to 7 beds in my salon and doing very well. I don't care anything other than Tanning Related Items, skin care and a few logo clothing. BUT I REGRET SELLING OFF THE RETAIL ITEMS AND WISH I WOULD NEVER HAVE LISTENED TO ANYONE SAYING **** LIKE TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY AS A TANNING SALON YOU CAN'T HAVE RETAIL ITEMS. It's about making money!

I also don't think people should be on here slamming other salons until they've visited them first hand. And even then, it's unprofessional to talk **** about other salons.

I know I went from making (some weeks) literally over 5K down to JUST TANNING RELATED into the hundreds and I am a very good salon owner.

Hey do what you want. Sheesh. Just don't expect everyone to agree with you about it. :)

Re: What do you sell at your salon?

No body is going to agree 100% of the time. I just think it is very unprofessional to talk crap about others. I will not stoop to that level by dissing people for their decisions.

As Tiff said, people are doing what they have to, to make money. Doesn't mean they are any less educated in Tanning and can't provide a great service to their community and customers.

Re: What do you sell at your salon?

Unfortunately, I have seen some of these "diversified" places, and my impression was meh.
Some of us are still "purists" and want to see the quickly tarnishing image of the tanning salon remain as professional and focused as it can be.

The addition of retail items, not necessarily "related" to tanning and of course skin care or perhaps even travel, takes away from the professional specialty industry/business image. IMO

Re: What do you sell at your salon?

But REALITY is I've got a son to feed and bills to pay. I could care less what other salon owners think of me as long as I'm making money. I've seen people post their numbers and I would close down if my numbers were that low.

Again, I am only tanning related now (and take tanning just as seriously as when I also operated my store out of the same building) fortunately my numbers seem to be higher than some.
