Re: Purchasing a second salon
buy it cheap...take the equipment and client list...then close it....too close to operate as a second salon. We have 2 but they are in different towns about 45 mins apart. We also let clients tan at both but would not do it in same town.

Re: Purchasing a second salon
I like keeping evolving mine vs. doing another location. Switching beds out, reconfiguring what I already have.
One is more than enough for me.

Re: Purchasing a second salon
The only reason that I would buy a second salon close buy would be to eliminate a competitor. I did that with the video business about 15 years ago. It works for awhile, but soon, someone sees that the competition is thin and just opens a bigger store. I did this twice here in my small town, and eventially a large chain video store opened and put me out of business. I was ready to quit anyway after being in the business for 18 years.

Re: Purchasing a second salon
This is a tough decision. We put the same salon (1.5 miles away) out of business three times in four years and some sucker bought it again, changed the name, put it some new floors and lowered the prices to match ours. However their salon has 8 beds, and four are real dogs, compared to our 14 beds, seven different styles. 2007 started 20% up until the clown opened shop. We only broke even this year for the first time. There are too many knuckle-heads in this world. Give it two years max and the place will be for sale to another sucker. P.T. Barnum said there is a sucker born every minute and he lived 100 years ago and worked the circus game to perfection, lots of luck, PatParadise
