Exclamation Starting A New Salon - What would you think of this lineup?

I'm starting a new salon and considering this lineup. Please give me your honest opinion and yes I will be talking to other bed manufacturers before I make a decision including Matt. Any response would be appreciated.

Lineup (all Sontegra):

2 Gen-X 42/8
1 Sunami
1 X-Pod
3 3000-SFX
1 Baby-X30/15
Refurb w/9K90 lamps
1 Hot Shot 3600

Thanks!

Thanks to all for their level-headed analysis. Too critical would have been discouraging. Too positive would have instilled a sense of over confidence. I feel much better now.

Not familiar with those beds, but looks like you have a good mix, as long as your demographics calls for mix.

They are killer beds but if you can't sell them then it doesn't matter what they are.
but if you know what you are doing you should have no problem taking over the area in 2 years or less.

Lineup (all Sontegra):

2 Gen-X 42/8
1 Sunami
1 X-Pod
3 3000-SFX
1 Baby-X30/15
Refurb w/9K90 lamps
1 Hot Shot 3600

Sontegra is nice equipment.

That said, I'm not at all sure about the mix you have selected.

You basically have:

Level 4? - 2 42 lamp VHR units with facials (the GenX 42/8)

Level 3? - 1 Standup (Sunami)
Level 3? - 1 32 or 38 lamp 160W bed with HP or spag facials (depending on if you are doing the Xpod ds or bx)

Level 2? - 1 30 lamp 160W/100W bed with spaghetti facials

Level 1? - 3 30 lamp 100W beds with HP facials - at 20 mins

1 Hot Shot 3600 (not sure what this is or where it fits)

My comments:

1. I would NOT put in 20 min level one beds in a salon of this size, nor Level 1 beds with HP facials, nor, in most markets, a base bed with fewer than 32 lamps opening today

2. I would not go from a bed with HP facials at Level 1 to one with spaghetti facials at Level 2.

3. The x-pod with 38 lamps and HP facials is going to be too close in tanning power to the GenX 42/8. The one with 32 lamps and spaghetti facials is going to be too close to the Baby X 30/15.

4. Going from 3 beds at Level 1, to 1 and 1, to 2 of the GenX 42/8's is going to cause "log jams" in your levels, if you are intending them as I have assumed. Plus the 1 Hot shot to fit in somewhere.

5. Not sure where you are intending the Sunami to fit in. If I was going to buy a standup from Sontegra, I think I would buy the Sunscape 48/8 (assuming the price is reasonable) to have the facials as an additional "selling point" to the bed. That bed should be able to priced the same as a GenX 42/8, offering an "up" and "down" option at that level.

Buying equipment it is CRITICAL that you have distinct "levels" in order to maximize the profitability in the salon. As it stands, this mix would not do that for you in my opinion.

I sent you a PM - happy to talk to you more about your specific situation.
