Orange from Lamps or Lotion?????

I have a question. It seems when I used to tan at the salon I worked at before opening my own, I as well as everyone else that tanned there was more orange than bronze or BROWN.
Does an more orange looking tan come from the quality, wattage, type of beds, type of bulbs, or hours of bulbs???
OR from the kind of lotion that you are using. I can't see how it would be the lotion. I know some lotions have heavy bronzers and are more intense.
Please can someone shed some light as to why you would be a gross orange color from tanning. And it is not just one person I have noticed from, lots. No one is getting orange from my place. THANK GOD!!!
Any suggestions?

It can certainly be the lamps. some lotions can also do it, when you find a def. answer let me know so I can tell the comp..

It seems everyone that walks out of there is orange.

Probably Florida lamps.

Now, I am scared. My beds all came with Ergoline bulbs. And when I go to relamp. I don't know which to get, generic bulbs or Ergoline bulbs. I bet the Ergo bulbs are ten times more $. I am going to ask my disty.
The lady that runs the salon up town. Tans like a mofo and she is the most hidious color of orange as well as the rest of the family that owns and runs the joint. My husband ran into her at the gas pumps the other day....awkward.....and said that she looked disgusting. We can't understand why anyone would take tanning advise from someone that looked like that.
I do find that FIJI lotions with bronzers can give you a ting of orange. I don't know I haven't tried it in my beds though. The smell of the stuff makes me gag. And I know Supre if not applied right........yikes...........my b-friend used Carnivale and said the he will never use a Supre lotion again.

hehe funny......ohh wait I am a florida salon..... I never have anyone with an orange tint I do have tanners who pigments seem to turn odd browns....or pinks..... Floridas probably is people are lured to being ginny pigs for the latest self tanners.....they know we have sun most year so we will be dumb enough to try them before they sell them all over

Geeze the way you always desribe your competition I should have opened there... sounds like you have Mr.Burns at one place and Umpa lompaas at the other.......

Some people are prone to tan a bit on the red side, maybe even orange, but when every second person that steps out of a salon is orange there is something not right.

Cheapo lamps I say.

I still think some salons push bronzers to cover up the lack of lamp changes.
