2007 Tanning Season

Just wondering what everyone thought about this coming season. After going to the seminar in Nashville and attending the classes, I was really re-vive. I was at the burn out stage or almost there, and very disgusted with being self employed.(since 1986) I came back from Nashville with a new attitude and lots of new ideas. Some of the ideas I put in place the minute I got home, and I was just amazed on what a difference it made in my business. A tanning salon in my area started the year with a $9.95 one month unlimited, And I started again thinking "here we go again" another season of stupid people thinking they have to give it away for clients to come. I refuse to compete with that, so they can just go ahead and tan people for that price, I just know that the bottom line, is that I will work SMARTER instead of HARDER this year. SO far since Nashville IT is working. Going to Nashville every year for years, and never attending the classes was the biggest mistake of my life. This was the first year I went to the classes and I know already they have paid off. I am looking forward for this season, I WILL WORK TO SEDUCE THE CUSTOMER, And I think it will pay off. I would like to know what everyone else thinks this season will be like. I am really working on the Vitamin D thing. I am working on educating the customer on the benefits of Tanning.

I agree, skipping the classes as Nashville is a big mistake. You may only pick up and implement a few ideas, but those few ideas can really make you successful! I think this is going to be a great season. Good luck to you.

Re: 2007 Tanning Season

I am new to this forum, though I've been reading through TanTalk for nearly a month now (only a few weeks though as a registered member). Although this is really neither here nor there where this thread is concerned, I am at this point struggling to make a decision between purchasing an existing business versus opening a new salon at an entirely different location. The current owner of the existing business I am considering has previously told me about the Nashville expo but did not tell me when it is. From everything I have read here, it is a definite must-see and I would like to be able to start making preparations now for being able to make the next one. I followed one of the links provided with another chat thread but hit a dead-end basically because I didn't know what I was loooking for.

Signed,
Me

Re: 2007 Tanning Season

Are you going to seduce your customers by charging low prices, because if you do all other salons will follow and there will be a price war and then noone wins. SOMEONE WILL BE LEAVING.

Re: 2007 Tanning Season

we have a new slogan for this year!

"this is our year" we say it to each other all the time. So far we are ahead of last year date to date. so I feel good about it.

Can you give me some of the ideas that you came away with after attending the Nashville Show? (I'm new to the business and didn't know about the show in Nashville, which is only 2 hours away from where I live)

Re: 2007 Tanning Season

Our salon is starting 19 years in the same location in a growing community. We have owned for four years. Last year sales were up 15%. 2007 is up 12% over 2006. We have already signed up 54 new customers this month. Our average has been 700 new customers each year. PatParadise.
