Re: eye protection

We provide eyewear for sale, not for use. When new customers come in, we make them sign an eyeprotection warning form, and we explain why we don't provide public eyewear. If not cleaned properly, it can transfer pink eye and over 100 other infections, between users. More colds are transfered through the eyes, than through the mouth. We stress that all tanners should purchase their own eyewear (the only law in my state is that it is provided for the tanner, either for sale or for use) and the damage that can be done by not protecting your eyes.

There are a few people who don't want to hear this, and really couldn't care one way or the other. But most younger tanners we will make them purchase eyewear when they are signing up. It is much safer for your salon to sell it to the customer, and the extra eyewear sales will add up to a lot more than you think!

Re: eye protection

We sell offer a lot of different options for eyewear. We have a section on our packet wall that is just for this. You will find that every customer likes something different (I really don't know why, they all protect your vision). We have:

Wink Ease - .50
Peepers - $2.25
Eye Candy - $2.99
Sunsets - $2.99
Ultra Sunglobes - $3.99
Prospecs - $4.50

I like to make it affordable. No high prices to scare people away from something that should be essential for tanning!

Re: eye protection

Sooooo true..I keep eyewear on stock for purchase also..I really don't sell to often, but like you said I have it for those who want their own. I sell mainly to bodybuilders who go to get the GYM tan or to the individual who has tanning as a added accessory to their apartment lease.

Re: eye protection

Depending on your local regs, and market, it may be hard to sell eyewear. Here, we al provide eyewear for clients. For one to try and stop providing for free would be a problem.

Unless you wanna use the Eye Pro scare tactics with the eye cancer shots.........

Re: eye protection

Thanks for the tips, I have always had to purchase eyewear at other salons so I was just wondering how many meaning quantity to keep on hand. I guess it doesn't really matter most products ship the next day anyway. I want to carry a nice variety and display them in a case to attract the sale. I have never been a fan of random goggles in a basket. I will see what works best for my area and make adjustments as needed, I know they are just eyewear, but, money is money. Thanks again.
