Re: building my own

Thank you

I try again to help.

HVLP systems produce 1.5 to 5 PSI @ up to 100CFM. This is similar to a leaf blower! If you properly encase the system you can considerably reduce the noise.

I have done many HVLP tans in my salons over the last three years. I tried the airbrush systems at first. They were very slow compared to HVLP.

I have also tried the "Conversion" HVLP guns (the ones you use with a compressor 30-50PSI and 8-15CFM) We had better results but a huge drain on a compressor. I have a very large compressor (25 gal) that was working almost constantly to keep up with 12CFM demand. Then we used true HVLP and have since.

we spray at a constant 4 PSI @ 100 CFM for best atomization.

The biggest tip I can give for booth construction is what to line the booth with.

We tried formica and melamine paneling and even vinyl wallpaper. After a while the sunless solution will etch these materials.

What we did find that will work is Coroplast. (looks like cardboard but made of polyprolene)

You can buy it in 4X8 sheets at most sign supply shops fo under $20 per sheet.

You can simply wipe the sunless solution off the coroplast and clean with plain water. You should "seal" the edges of all the coro with white duct tape when installing or the sunless solution will tend to seep into the flutes of the coro. Seal the bottom of the coro also or any solution on the floor will draw up into the flutes of the coro by capillary action.

Re: building my own

Just a note! Make sure you put the compressor in the alley ... those types of compressors are unbelievably loud . I'm serious... extremely loud. I have used captive air tank systems and they are cheap, but have to be charged often. I think you would be better off buying a professional compressor easier on the ears!! Just my 2 cents!!
