Re: New Business seeking advice

so do they actually make the beds or just the 'skins" to put on the beds? And which one of those beds costs less then $5,000.

Re: New Business seeking advice

Since coming to these forums, I've have heard nothing much good about Puretan. It lookes as though the new ownership hasn't made the company any better. They have always had trouble delivering the goods, weather it was beds. parts. supplies, or whatever. Management conflicts were another problem. Steve Underwood can attest to this. They did have one sales rep, Brian, that tried very hard to keep you happy. He couldn't do it alone, and left the company after many years.

Re: New Business seeking advice

Hello again and thank you to all who posted supportive messages regarding the PureTan fiasco- just an update. We received a call from Branden Howell, their VP Marketing giving us a defined date when the refund would finally be deposited in the account. Of course that date has come and gone and still no money. So just to be clear- they have taken money, without delivering a product and 6 months later will still not tell the truth or refund the money. DO NOT BUY FROM PURETAN. The Texas Atty General is now inovolved. Newbies- avoid this company like a bad disease.

Re: New Business seeking advice

I don't mind people posting statements about puretan that have validity but don't post false statements.

WE HAVE ALWAYS DELIVERED BEDS TO PEOPLE THAT HAVE BEEN ORDERED AND HAVE NEVER STOLEN MONEY FROM PEOPLE!!!

I KNOW WE HAVE BEEN LATE ON ORDERS BEFORE BUT WE ARE ALSO ON TIME WITH ORDERS.
UNFOURTUNATLY THOSE PEOPLE DON'T POST ON HERE LIKE THE ONES THAT WE ARE LATE ON DO.

WE DO NOT INTENTIALLY RUN BEHIND WHEN WE DO.

THANKS FOR THE SUPPORT THAT WE DO GET FROM SALON OWNERS ON HERE!!!

Re: New Business seeking advice

Ok this is my very first posting, and I want some advise for a small town 1 yr old business. What kind of marketing do you all use, I know what doesn't work. Being in a small community serving 3 surrounging areas I'm trying to get those one time tanners back in. Do you want to offer any kind of specials during the tanning season? My clients seem to need them to spur them on.

Re: New Business seeking advice

tanning is too seasonal and over-saturated with competition. you really need to diversify and add complimentary products and services to your tanning business model. I like the idea of adding therapeutic massage to your lineup. I would recommend that you rent out the room and hire a freelancer, but make sure it is all legal (check your state regs) and split the profits. 60%-40%. Massage tables are relatively inexpensive. A lot less than tht lowest priced tanning beds I know. Go with the massage if your market demographics and competitive analysis shows there is room for this. Good luck.
