How does shaving affect a tan?

I've heard that shaving can make a tan fade a little, but I was wondering about how much? For example I just shaved my arms and now they look a little whiter, is it usual for the tan to fade a bit when you shave? I'll be tanning tomorrow anyway so I'll be dark again but I was just wondering how shaving affects a tan. Thanks.

When you shave, you take off some dead skin. That skin was tan. You are not fading you tan, as such, you are actually removing it. Can't be helped. Shave before you tan, not after.

Yep, its also why a lot of customers will complain about their legs not being as tan as the rest of their body. Along with the whole thicker skin thing...

Yeah we always have complaints about the legs. I try to explain the shaving and thicker skin as well, but sometimes they dont' get it. Have them try Dark Sexy Legs by Matahari, that seems to go over well here, or have them use slight tingles on their legs to boost. And make sure you shave before you tan and moisturize alot.

usually it's only 5 tans into their program and they need to just stop rushing the situation or stop being a cheap *** ***** and spend $3 on some tingle oil.

How much tan is lost when you shave? Like 70% or so?

I dont think it would be a set percentage. It would change from person to person. Shaving just rushes the whole natural exfoliation process....and drier skin will sluff off faster.
