Mobile spray tanning

Hello
My wife and i were thinking about a mobile spray tanning biz. Well come to you . Any ideas about rates we should charge? Were we live you can get spray tanned at a salon from 40 dollars all the way up t0 70 dollars at one high end botique. Is there anyone out there doing mobile tanning? Id like to hear pros and cons also how much liability ins should we be looking to pick up? Wife got fired from job so figureed this is the kick in the butt to get started.

thanks in advance
k

Re: Mobile spray tanning

She got fired because after 4 years 6 month of employment she was getting close to being able to join the profit sharing plan. She went back to work part time after 3 child was born, and they asked her if she could go back full time, she told them she would have to talk to her mother who is our child care and see , her mom has a job on the days my wife doesnt work, anyway its a busy doctors office and ther wasnt anything said of it even the firts question was nonchalant, no we need to know by such and such date. Well yesturday the office manager told here that they have to let her go becuase the head doctor doesnt want part time workers, and my wife replied i can work full time again no problem, the office manager went back to the doctor and she said sorry too late. Heres the kicker 4 plus years never reprimanded although all the other employees have been written up and had to sighn warnings, she always was early and anytime they asked someone to come in early she did, its a busy office wioth 8 lines 4 doctors and a stress test lab, two girls to handle phones and book apointments and check in people avarage day is over 60 patients. My mother use to be the office manager there for over 15 years before she retired two years ago, and explained to us last night that the main doctor is a loon and that its probally for the best. The doctor always would scream and curse at the girls and act very unprofesional. The next girl in line as being the longest employee there is only one year into the job. makes no sence and She didnt have to partake in the office benefits plans cause i have great coverage so they saved money. i work in the courts and spoke to two separate judges and they said its sounds like a very strong wrongul termination suit, but my wife would probally get blackballed fro other offices. The one doctor even called us last night to offer her help getiing a job in another office, its funny that the partners had no say in the matter. i would love to tie the main doctor up in court with depositions and having to provide records but its not worth it for us we will just move on and do better forourselves.. Thats coul be the only resaon is the profit sharing plan which is a very good plan, the hr policy there doesnt stipulate part time or full time to jhoin the plan just 5 years of service date you will be enrolled in plan...

Re: Mobile spray tanning

Hello Rummy,

I operate a Mobile Spray Tanning business. At the end of the day, I had to do the "number crunching" in relation to solution expenses, vehicle running costs and maintenance, vehicle insurance etc etc etc. My price is fair and what I consider to be a good profit. The best advice I have learnt in business is, don't get too caught up in what everyone else is doing...get caught up with what you are doing. Customer service that is consistent and of high standards will be the best free advertising tool you could ever wish for. By looking after them, they will help you grow your business and it won't cost you a cent!
I am only assuming that you are from USA/Canada, so I am unable to give advice on liability insurances etc etc. Just do all your homework and I hope your wife and yourself will have success!

Re: Mobile spray tanning

Why don't you do a search on Google. If anyone is doing it, it should show up there.

Re: Mobile spray tanning

Look for something small and light. Use a HVLP/LVLP not an airbrush.(they are way too messy) I have seen a pop up spray tan "room" for under $200 well worth it. I think it was at the tanning store. Just do a search on pop up tanning booths and you will get lots of hits. You don't want to have to clean up thier house when you are done. Get a big rolling cart with hard sides that will be able to carry all the supplies you may need and keep it well stocked. Pick the brain of whoever you buy your system thru for ideas for marketing. You aren't just paying for a machine you are also paying for thier help it make your business a success.
