I watched the Today show and was shocked. As a former owner who still tans, they did not have the other side of the story. It was very one sided and really scary for anyone that is uninformed as a tanner or beginner. A former tanner was walking through the salon she had once tanned at. They did not talk about monitoring or any benefits of tanning. Basically, all tanning is BAD was the message.

I normally tan around prom season of course and watching this video made me very scared. I do know the risks of tanning and skin cancer, but I continue to tan. My mom had skin cancer that was removed, which makes me think, will that happen to me. There have been days that I tanned outdoors without SPF, which I know is stupid. If you think about it, it is like smoking. People know that smoking causes cancer and so many other health problems, but thousands still continue to smoke. Just as in tanning. I do want to continue tanning, but it does scare me knowing that it is possible to get cancer. I know that 20 minutes or so is good for you skin. I don't know, I guess I'm scared, but I still want to continue. I just don't know what to do...

There are so many things on TV now which bash tanning, and yes its very one sided. The benefits of moderate tanning far out weigh the cons. I hate people who slag tanning off, i will never stop!

im not gonna stop tanning or running my salon... I know it has helped me and other family members for other skin conditions.. and in moderation is can not be bad for you IMO.... I bet neutrogena is laughing all the way to the bank.... the orange loking sunless products must be flying off the shelves... How pathetic!

NO. It's NOT like smoking. Smoking does NOTHING for your health other than kill you. Tanning is VERY GOOD for you as it's NECESSARY for your body to make Vitamin D3. Smoking does NOT do this. Skin cancer is a SCARE TACTIC as in the amount of people who die from skin cancer is VERY LOW.

The amount of people who die from smoking is HUGE.

Take away the sun and the world ENDS IMMEDIATELY. Take away cigarettes and the world life expectancy goes up.

Still say smoking is the same?
