Re: Welcome Newbies
HI,
No, just getting the building set up & everything now. I know it is really "late" to be starting but I have the financial setup that it wont matter if I dont make a decent profit until next year. I am so excited. Have you heard of Stay Tan? I received a catalog from them yesterday. They are in Marietta which is only about 45 minutes away from me. Who do you suggest? What about for lotions? I would appreciate any advice. Thanks Lisa |

Re: Welcome Newbies
Hello everyone. Going to open a new tanning salon in about 2 weeks, and we are just picking our beds. We have it narrowed to either Ergoline or Wolff systems (Sunquest or Sunvision beds). We went to the Ergoline factory today and toured it. The beds are impressive. Does anyone have either of these lines or have any advise as to choosing the right beds?

Re: Welcome Newbies
Hello, this is my first post after sitting out for months and reading and learning which I have to say I really have learned alot.......I wish this could be a happy post but its not.....Around August I was asked by a friend if I would be interested in buying her salon, she has a wonderful salon that has been up and running for 12 years there is several in our town but its the best! I was really excited that she asked me...........she told me I was the perfect one for it that several were interested but she wants it to stay up and running and I was perfect! Infact she told me names of others that wanted it and she didn't think they would ever be able to handle it. We then decided I would take it over in June she wanted to pocket enough cash to help her semi retire and the busy season would do that. She always would say I am stealing from my company........ I took 9 months of my time putting in any where from 8 to 10 hours of my time 6 days a week infact people would say do you ever go home?? My children also dedicated their time to train and everyone knew us as the new owners as of June and loved us very much and we loved them........My girls and I took over the Saturdays from open to close so people would get use to us.......We really thought this would be a great way to change owners since people would know us............I had asked her if she needed any money down to hold it and she replied no.....not yet. Well we have lots going on in the month of May......one of my daughters is graduating from college and will be relocating, my nephew is getting married so my Mother, two sisters and brother and all their family will be staying at my house.....my husband is having surgery etc.....so thats why we decided on June 1st. About two weeks she decided that she needed to replace me so I could get things at home ready as she put it she said you all got it down .......you will always have this so get your stuff up and going at home....so I went and hired our attorney to take care of the contract and details since I have never done this and needed direction. I went and talked to her the day I met with the attorney and told her the ball was rolling and even told her I could get in a week early if she wanted to so that would mean the last week of May...she was excited and said cool lets do it then! I told her I needed to go back the following day to look at the contract and all he was making up on it and would be seeing her in a few days or so........my attorney told me it was gonna cost around 800.00 to do it all......seems pretty high but oh well take care of it....he said I need you to take her this paper first and have her fill it out.......its a sheet for her to do on inventory that needs to be put with the contract that she will have to sign....lets give her the sheet first and then once we get it she can look over the contract and you can put down some money......I went to her house told her about it and she was fine told her I needed to come and get it on Monday she said fine it wouldn't take long to do.........Monday morning I went by had coffee followed her around and talked and asked her if she had it so I could drop it off and she was like....... no I was so busy this weekend I didn't do......I then told her ok no big deal call me when you have it done......the whole week went by I really didn't wanna bother her I thought she would call plus I worked my butt off everyday around the house and time flew by so I decided I would just take care of it today........I called her and was like hello I was wondering if you have the paper ready for me so I can take it to the attorney........she was like NOPE..I was like ok well um I guess just hollar when you have it and she was like NO and I was like is something the matter? She was like nope you don't need it.........I sold the business yesterday........oh my gosh my heart stopped my eyes got blury I was like you did what??? She was like I said I sold it...I told you I was ready to sell it and you wanted to wait until June and well I sold it yesterday and I was like why?? How could you....you knew I wanted it and I have the attorney working on it and I have the money and have had it why didn't you call or something what is going on..who bought it and she was like I am not telling you who bought it if you want to know you can go up there and see for yourself..........ok thats crazy why are you doing this.....all she said was I am tired and I am not going to argue with you I was like oh my gosh what the heck I have the papers ready etc. she was like well they handed me the money and we did a bill of sale and its done they didn't get an attorney......so we hung up and I was like ok bye but she wasn't there to say bye.......I don't know what has happen I don't understand how someone can do this and not even care I was worked my butt off changed my life around etc to do this! I got off the phone went to the salon they were sooooo busy so I then thought as I was walking in what the heck am I doing here ok....get the lotions that are mine and go.....the girl that fills in was at the counter she was like hey how are you are you ok......I'm sorry........ I was like I am good how are you then the tears were wanting to jump out so I knew I needed to hurry and get out of there I was like I need to grab the girls and my lotion she was like well don't know where they are come around and find them so I did and I left without finding out who the owner was....however there was a man changing out the locks.........so then my neohew called and I told him and then said hey do me a favor call and ask to see if the owner is still there and see who now owns it......he called me back to tell me that he asked for the owner they were like she is out until 3 he was like I heard you sold it and I have a package and I was wondering if my package was still good.......she told him yeah she was going to sell it but then the girl that was going to buy it flaked out! WHAT THE HECK!!!!!!!!!!!! that me!!!!!!!!! I am so upset about this I went to the attorney and he felt so bad for me.......I told him I needed to pay him that it was over and he said yep there isn't anything we can do.......and about the bill don't worry its nothing. I am so broken hearted over this I wanted to do this sooooooo bad I am a stay at home mom for over 14 years this was my time to get out and be someone instead of a house wife I was going to do something for me and do it with my girls and now its gone and there isn't anything I can do about it! I haven't done anything people would tell me over and over they couldn't wait for me to take it over that the owner was really getting tired of it and she was hard to deal with I heard stories all the time and I would just say well you know she is losing her baby she has had for 12 years she has alot on her mind........my phone has been ringing off the wall tonight people are like what the heck what happen we were told you changed your mind backed out on it didn't know where you were etc..........fine thats not me I wanted it soooooooo bad! And no one will know that she did this to me I didn't do anything! And I did find out the girl that was being nice to me.........she is the new owner! Which is one of the names I was told she would never sell to! Sorry guys this is so long! I vented didn't I!

Re: Welcome Newbies
Hello everyone!
So, I also, like alot of you, am doing research on opening a tanning salon. My boyfriend and I are very excited about it. You guys have been very, very helpful, and I thank you. I just have a question, or two, okay, maybe three. Well I just want to know, are we supposed to find a place first, then get a loan, or go for a loan, (how much??) then try to find a space to open the salon. Do we need a lawyer or consultant?? Do we do the plans, show them to a contractor, etc, get a price then get a loan. Oh goodness, I just don't know. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again!! |
