Changing Pricing Structure..Need Suggestions

We currently offer minutes on our beds and have decided to eliminate them and do sessions. After four years of business in a very small town we have found that minutes are not what is paying our bills. We have tried points and it just hasn't caught on because of being in a small town. People here are creatures of habit and minutes are all they've ever known.

After visiting some salons in Florida while there for the holidays we have decided to change our pricing structure to sessions. We would like some ideas, suggestions, etc. on setting up these sessions. Do you do 5, 10, 20.....how is yours set up for those of you who offer sessions?

We have four levels of tanning with Level One Base, single session is $6.00. Level Two single session is $8.00, Level Three single session is $10 and Level Four single session is $12.00. Currently we offer packages of 100 and 300 minutes only, on each level. How do you explain to the customer that sessions are better than minutes, and what are the advantages or disadvantages of offering sessions instead of minutes?

Would you also offer one month unlimited packages for each level along with sessions? How should we set up a price structure based on the sessions we mentioned above? Keep in mind, this is a small town and income is very, very low for most.

Any and all suggestions would be welcome. Thanks for your input.

For a quick hit Ive heard of membership fees - in other words $200 a month = unlimted tanning and $2 more for upgrades

How much for your 100 minutes in your base bed? How long does that usually last a client?

what we did was revamped our price sheets including graphics and changed the prices at the same time. Only those who have tanned with us from the beginning of time noticed. I think you will find they won't say too much or complain as must as you are worried about it.

i sell 1 /4/8/12 sessions and 1 month/3months/6months/1 year
i have 3 levels and sell the same packages under each.

the more you buy the more you save!

you should offer both minutes and sessions at first to help with the change over ......also so salons do this normally good luck

Never sold minutes.

For sessions, I picked logical price points and forced the number of sessions for each level to fit the price points. Our package prices end in an 8.

Also, we have 30, 60 and 90 day unlimiteds.

Finally, we have a hard EFT member program.

I won't post my prices because they would be of no use to you. My pricing is apparently significantly higher that you can demand.

$8, level 1, 24 lamp, 20 min
$11, level 2, 30RUVA, 20 min
$16, level 3, 36 160VHR and 3 500HP, 15 min
$20, level 4, 44 160VHR and 6 500HP, 12 min
