I have 3 salons and the first one I equiped with Tan America Beds. 7 of the 32 HO's and one of the 32VHO's w/ facial. The second one I put in a Matrix and 12 32HO's and a Sun-Up II and a 32VHO w/Facial. Third salon I went with a Matrix and my entry level beds I switched to Sun Fabrication (Pano) beds. The first Matrix I had a problem with the acrylic, looked like small scratches all up and down the middle of the acrylic. tan America admitted that there was a problem with the acrylics and replaced it. On the new Matrix which has been in use less than one year has developed the same problem. When I contacted Tan America, I was told that the problem was caused by eithor sweat or lotions or using the wrong product to sanitize the bed. And that I have to pay for the new acrylic. Have used only Lucasol or Cal Tan Sanitizer on my beds. Has anyone heard of this being caused by sweat? I also check on the lotions used in the beds. If someone comes in we always ask if they use a lotion and if they say they already have one we ask to see it.

It's just what happens to them, and all other acryllics, eventually. If you don't want acryllics with fine scratches, leave them in the box. It's the only way to keep them "Scratch-free". Good luck.

Agree. They are more obvious on the Matrix because you can 'see' them better than traditional beds that have the lamps right up to the surface. Think most of them are from jewelry, bra hooks, belly rings (people turn over) etc as people get on and off.

These are not scratches on the surface but seem to be in the acrylic it's self. To me they look more like, for example wometimes you put a clear plastic glass in a dishwasher and when you take it out, it looks like it has fine scratches in it. I'm wondering if it has to do with heat?

Are the scratches more like spider-webbing internal in the acrylic? I am having the same problem with my Soltron equipment. My distributor says it is due to bad batch of acrylics and has submitted a warantee claim to the company. Mine are new beds and the company still does not want to replace them. They also say that I'm using the wrong kind of bed cleaner. I use the same cleaner on all the beds and it hasn't happened on all my beds. This is a cop-out and a poor way to treat a customer.

My Matrix is 1.5 years old and did the same thing after 6 months very noticable. I have no idea what it might be besides belly rings. I do not think people would flip but who knows!!

Yes almost like spider-webing inside the acrylic. It's not from bellybutton rings, because the scratches are not on the surface. Eric in the Matrix service department at Tan America, told me that there was a problem with some of the acrylics. But when I asked for it to be replaced. I was then told that acrylics are not covered under warranty.

I just now got an email from my distributor and he is sending replacements for my spider webbed acrylics. They had many that had to be replaced and the manufactuer is making good on the replacements. Most likely your Matrix acrylics are made by the same company.

The Matrix acrylics only last 1-2 years before they look bad. They get scratched like every other acrylic except you can see it much easier on the Matrix. Just know you will have to replace it unless you go to a frosted acrylic. This might help hide the scratches. I believe alot of the scratches on all acrylics comes from the cleaning cloth being used. No real way to avoid it if you want your beds cleaned.

Mine are not scratches on the acrylics. They are spider-webbing cracks inside the the plastic. My beds were just 1 month old when I noticed the problem.
