Unlike clear acrylics, frosted acrylic surfaces diffuse the UV transmission evenly throughtout the bed allowing for a natural looking tan. Frosted acrylics also help hide the dust that might build up, and they make the equipment look nicer.

Does dust help to diffuse ultraviolet rays as well, or does it block or deflect them? That whole line "... frosted acryllics help to diffuse UV rays evenly..." is a big, steaming pile of horse mess. The sole purpose of frosted acryllics is to get you to spend more money than you have to and to hide your dust better. Good luck.

I remember Don Smith studied this issue at one time and posted some graphs online of the results. It may have been on the original tantoday site and subsequently deleted in their demise (pre-reincarnation).
I seem to remember that frosted acrylics cut down on UV light transmission. Maybe Don can fill in the details? |

Those look like graphs of my tantalk posting activity. I'm sure they're very instrumental in helping distys and mfrs selling salon owners on the benefits of frosted acryllics. I've never seen them before. That would explain my simpleton attitude towards them. Thanks Jim.
