So is this pretty much the case? I know they only last 2-5 days or something like that. I used a couple bronzers with decent results, than I used x-power from caltan and I got like spray-tan blotchy really poor results.
My question is: is the only point of bronzers to make u look tan if ur in a rush by almost painting your skin? And what should I be using If i want long-term results that go deep into my skin and dont just look unevenly painted on top?

I dont want to buy a big 4-step package either, I already have a base tan. Like are accelerators what will develop good color, or moisturizors.

1. you are only tanning skin...not deep surface
Tanning takes place in the skin's outermost layer, the epidermis. About five percent of the cells in your epidermis are special cells called melanocytes. When exposed to UVB light, melanocytes produce melanin-the pigment which is ultimately responsible for your tan. The pinkish melanin travels up throught the epidermis and is absorbed by other skin cells. When exposed to UVA light, the melanin oxidizes or darkens. THis darkening is your skins way of protecting itself against too much UV light.

Why does a tan fade? Cells in the epidermis' geminative layer are constantly reproducing and pushing older cells upward toward the horny layer, where they are naturally sloughed off in about one month. As your skin replaces its cells, the cells laden with melanin are remover. So the tanning process must continue with the new cells.
(information taken form Smart Tan pamplet: Understaning how you skin tans.

2. Most lotion on the market with "Bronzers" in them have a product called DHA, which is in fact used in the spray tan booths and therefore gives you quick results when tanning. This the same results you are looking for when using a "bronzing lotion". If you maintence your skin before using spray booth or a bronzing lotion you will get great results. Meaning Exfoliating and haveing fresh clean skin before using the product. Not preparing your skin could result in the yellow or orange hue that people get.

3. Using any tanning lotion, will give you results. Tingles help with giving you a boost.
Moisturizers will make your tan last longer. Not using bar soap, using shower gel will help you skin stay moist.
The PH in bar soap will cause your skin to dry out quicker.

So...therefore
Moist skin tans better, and the tan will last longer.

Any questions..

Thanks to Smart Tan, I am able to give this information,....thanks for the education you give us every year.

No...you should never use indoor tanning lotion when tanning outside, these lotions have no SPF in them.
You should only be using SPF when outdoors, why tan outside and get tan lines when you are spending money on a great tan at your local salon. SPF will help prevent sunburn..apply about every 30 minutes or more if sweating or in and out of water. You will still tan, be elimate some the UVB rays, which will cause a sunburn.
Smart tan never burn..

You really dont have to wait after tanning using a bronzer, remember you are tanning your skin and yes you will have better results if you wait to shower, but you will also, get rid of the oranger residue that comes from the DHA.
Remember, the content of DHA is different in all lotions...the placement in the ingredient list helps when determining the % of DHA in the lotion.
