Two things come to mind. If they tan with their arms above their heads the entire session, the shoulders won't get much exposure, so they need to alternate positions. Second, if you don't have shoulder tanners, it may be that they need to slide down farther in the bed, but this tends to make your feet not tan, so they would need to alternate positions each session. I've noticed that this second suggestion helps most for the people who are tanning in the shorter beds.
