Because they want to make sure you buy the cords from them, and not make your own...

Otherwise, why else would a person pay 30 bucks for a $3.00 phone cord?

It's 50' of cord though,my rooms aren't 50' apart. I still don't understand why cutting the cord voids the warranty. Any answers out there?

Most just find easy ways to get out of warranty repair, that would be one of them.
