First off, I'm very sorry if I am posting in the wrong spot but I am going nuts here. basically my problem is I just started tanning for the summer which I do every year. I work inside but I still like to get a good tan during summer so I go tanning. Usually I have no problem, but so far I have gone to three different places and am having a major problem.
The problem is everytime I go after like 3-4 minutes in the bed a get a very painful prickley feeling only on my chest, stomach and back. It almost feels like little shocks all over me. Then for the next 15-24 hours or so the feeling will continue. I will itch like crazy. Is this a heat rash? I usually tan pretty good and when I go I am really not getting burnt, just turning tan and a little red like normal. Anyway it hurts and itches so bad I can't function. What is going on?? I mean I literaly have to scratch my stomach and back for 12 hours straight after I go tanning. The thing that drives me nuts is I am getting tanner but I can't go long because this happens. Thank you very much for your help. |

Also I am not getting a rash or hives or bumps or anything. My skin looks like it also did after I went tanning in the past. It just itches so bad. And it honeslty feels like little shocks, it's beyond itching. And that is the only symptom. It does not make me feel sick or anything.

Consider switching lotions. Talk to your salon professional and tell them what you are feeling, and ask for a couple of samples of other lotions. You may not be the only person this is happening to. If this feeling continues, consult your doctor.

Thanks for your help guys, this gets weirder and weirder. I usually go tanning right after I workout and that is when this problem happens. Well for the past two days I have gone home and ate and showered first then went tanning. When I do that no problems at all. So I don't understand why the **** that is happening but I guess it if fixed now.

When you work out your pores open to allow sweat and heat out of your body, and when you tan you are heating up your body even more. Your body is only able to reduce it's temperature so fast. Also, lot's of people have reactions to their own sebum. So let those pores close back down and your body temp lower.
