Depends on how many units you have room for, and how much demand there is for stand-up vs. other options.
If only 5% of your tanners absolutely INSIST on using stand-ups (and in many markets, it is less than this!), then "meeting or beating" your competition by having one may be a very foolish use of space or $$ when you could use that to put in a unit that would get much more traffic and generate much more revenue. Maybe they devote a room to a stand-up and you use that room for sunless ---- or high pressure ---- or a top end VHR bed? Are you "less than the competition" now? Or making a strategic decision to carve a niche for yourself that is in higher demand and more profitable. KNOW your market well before making expensive equipment decisions! |

Y'all are cracking me up. Not only are you extremely informative, you are very entertaining. My ergoline distributor is American Sun Systems. They are out of Greensboro NC. There is no question in my mind about having a stand up. I have a pretty big demand for it. There are three within a thirty mile radius of where this salon will be. Two of them are sundazzlers. I think this is an awesome booth, however, with two already out there, I feel that I need something different. The other is one of those that look like a cage. Not sure what it's called or who makes it. I'm sure at least one of you can tell me. She markets it as a high pressure stand up. I know a lot of people who have tried it though, and they all hate it because they all say they are afraid if they touch the sides it will burn them. Just the look of it freaks people out. I am also planning on offereing sunless. Right now I'm going with a norvell, or something similar, not a booth. My space is 2000sq.ft. As far as rooms, right now it's still open space. I'm debating on sheetrock or eurowalls. The salon I previously worked in had six rooms, with four levels of beds. The stand up did great.
