A few comments:
1. Doing all levels with one company can make sense, if one company truly has quality equip at that many levels. Most don't. Soltron/Ergoline does. 2. I believe (but am only 95% sure I'm remembering this correctly) the Lounge/Shuttle started as an 8 minute tan, the lamps weren't performing as they would like and they switched it to different lamps and a 10 minute tan. Haven't heard issues ever since. And yes - those with the original lamps were switched out. 3. Built-in dressing rooms? In general, people don't like them as well as a "room". But it's "fine" if that's what fits your space and look. 4. Shuttle would probably equate out to a Level 3 tan or so. Depends on how you pitch it and area you are in for repeat business. Pitch it as fast in/out, good all-around color (shoulders, spots on back that don't tan, under arms,...), etc. 5. If you want an alternative stand-up, I like the Tan America SunUp II with the facial lamps - an extra reason to want to stand up to tan. 6. Express your concern to the distributor - see what they say. Yes - this is a very busy time of year, and coming off a time when they have been 24/7 for about the past 4 months and are pretty 'burnt'. 7. 4-5 levels from 8-10 beds total?? Or adding an additional 8-10 to an existing mix? 'Cause 5 levels from 10 beds sounds like too many levels or too few beds. |

I was thinking about three or four level 1, three or four level 2, and then the shuttle and the shark. I had four levels in another salon with less beds, and they all did well. Smaller town though. It looks like a lot of people on here like Tan America a lot. I haven't looked at their beds too much yet, but I will look into that this week. I do like the matrix a lot though. I have plenty of time right now. This is for a new salon that I hope to open about Oct. or Nov. so I will most likely be buying in Nashville this fall. I have been looking at Heartland a lot lately. How do you think they compare with ergoline? Especially the Acclaim and the Sundazzler or 2m? I actually like the Sundazzler better then the shuttle, but as I was saying before, I was thinking that I would buy all from the same company. Sunsally, you said ergoline has quality equipment in all levels in your opinion. Do you, and others out there, believe that Heartland and Tan America also can offer top quality in every level?

I bought Soltron for my new salon and was going to go with the Shuttle as my standup. After looking at the unit and trying it, I decided that It just wouldn't be what my customers would like. I went with the Super Sonic Sun Capsule. My customers just love the tan they get in as little as 7 minutes. But, it cost me $5000 more. My Soltron disty told me I made a good choice because 1 of his other customers, who also had the Shuttle, and soon sold it and also bought a Sun Capsule. I just love the other Soltron equipment, but I don't have a Shark.

Parrot head - assume you worked with Jeff? He's good. It's a mark of a professional that can be happy when you make the best choice for YOUR salon - not his pocketbook! That's what will have to going back to him later!
I wouldn't spend big $$ on a stand-up unless you know you have a strong stand-up market. Do you have many using your suncapsule Parrothead? |
