Government Regulations do not make anything better.

Why don't you go to a heavily regulated state, for example Ohio, and discover for yourself that there are still unprofessional "regulated" salons there. Probably more in Ohio than in TN. And Ohio is a very regulated state.

Stop looking to the government to "fix" every perceived or imagined fault. That is not the job of government.

Mind your own business and stop worrying about your lesser competition.

Jim I asked you 2 pages ago what you would suggest to do to fix the problem that so many of us salon owners face.

Do you honestly believe the public looks at us as a profesional business?

Why not make all salons licensed?
require them to test every 6 months or 1 time a year
is they don't they lose license and can't run business.

let's hear some input if reg's don't work but yet there are problems then why doesn't someone take the lead and say this is what we as salon owners MUST DO!!! or could it be that 1/2 the salons owners really don't give a rats azz about anything but the checking account.

IMO all salons should be licensed. I am in Texas and I have a movie gallery less than 2 miles from me not complying with the 24 hour law.
I have a competitor that lets a 10 minute Puretan Standup run 12 minutes. I could go on and on...

I called Austin & they said there was not enough manpower to inspect all salons!!!

I think this goes to my point. Texas is "regulated" and it sounds like the same story as "unregulated" TN?

So, stop with the dermoterrorist sympathetic pro-regulation nonsense.

The only thing a salon owner "must do" is to do the best he can for his own business and not waste time and energy worrying about his "less professional" competition. Be the best you can be and take care of your clients.

The free market will prevail. Business is Darwinian.

Great idea! Let's all force ourselves to pay more fees for licensing, training and malpractice. Let's see, driver's licenses haven't prevented traffic problems including grid lock, property damage, personal injury or death. Medical licenses haven't prevented medical malpractice. Teaching licences haven't produced better results in public education. Acoountant licensing hasn't stopped tax and accounting fraud. What do you think licensing of tanning salon operators will improve exactly?
